With all the drama that's going on in his personal life now, let's not forget that when Eddie Murphy is on the big screen, he's there to entertain, and it's nice to him return to form in "Shrek The Third". After being villafied by the media for his performance in "Norbit", which may have cost him winning an Oscar for "Dreamgirls", Murphy is back to playing it safe as Donkey in the third film with Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas. Between the three Shrek films, Daddy Day Care, both Doctor Dolittle films, and Mulan, Murphy has been great in making family themed films. Although "Norbit" was domestically profitable with $95 million, it still got bad press from his own peers. Despite that, Murphy is still a money maker in Hollywood, and second behind Will Smith in terms of African American leading actors who can sell worldwide.
In "Shrek The Third", which opens on May 18th, Murphy's character, Donkey, once again, sides along with Shrek and Puss In Boots in their quest to regain the throne of Far Far Away after jilted Prince Charming takes Fiona hostage and takes over the kingdom. Joining the group this time is Justin Timberlake as Fiona's rebellious cousin, Artie (as in Arthur of Camelot). Prepare for another family filled adventure.

I love Shrek 1&2 and I'm sure I will love Shrek the 3rd.
Think it's one of the best animated cartoon that I've seen as of recent.

I wish he'd do more quality jobs, instead of these corny remakes. Fantasy Island?! He sold his soul long ago. Oh well... at least he's making money; that's what it's all about, I suppose.

Let's remember the donkey is just a part he is playing. It has nothing to do with the real Eddie Murphy or his Baby Mamma Drama.

he is an actor and supposed to experiment with other outlets to show he is capable of extending his acting abilities into other areas he is just naturally funny

I cant believe justin Timberlake is in it i want to see how he does
As far as Norbit the movie i've seen better, i understand the message he was trying to make and show what he can do, he played the asian father and i loved him but in every movie except daddy day care ,is murphy always after these high yellow hazel or grey eyes long haired females, now im not hating, but he do need a variety i wanna see a real sister but i give it to regina king she is the bomb

Eddie Murphy as donkey in Shrek 1&2 was hilarious, I'm sure he will be just as funny in this third film. I can't wait to see this movie. Both Shrek films thus far have been great. Despite his personal life, he's great on the big screen and his movies has made millions.

i'm sure shrek the third will be just as entertaining as the former shrek movies. i'm looking forward to seeing it. as far as norbit goes, no it wasn't some deep theatrical movie piece but it was entertaining and great for a bunch of laughs. people need to lay off of eddie for that movie. for the type of movie it was, it was good and everyone needs to laugh sometime. jmho.

Eddie Murphy is an actor who has been typecasted by the public as a comedic actor simply because he is SO GOOD at it, but the truth is: He is an all-around entertainer. He can handle a serious role just as well as he can a funny one. The fact the he may have lost his Oscar for "Dreamgirls" because of "Norbit" is B.S. to me because Norbit shouldn't have taken anything away from his performance in that movie. It should have solidified how good of an actor he REALLY is. And for those who have issues with the flick "Norbit" should keep in mind that it was intended for COMEDY and it hit the mark in my opinion. And as far as saying he sold his soul, that's BS too. The film industry is for entertainment purposes and if there is money to made, WHY NOT MAKE IT? If he wanted to play a butler in a movie or do a cameo appearance or hell even a walk through, he's getting paid right? I applaud him for remaining a helluva actor in spite of the media living in his personal life. ANd I can't wait for Shrek the 3rd... lol
GO EDDIE!
(Ok... I'm stepping off of my soap box now...)
