After being one of the few that saw his performance in "The Cleaner" and speaking to him on the set of "The Better Man" in Shreveport, Louisiana yesterday, I'm happy to report that Cedric the Entertainer will flip his script and do some serious acting for a change. He just got cast opposite Keanu Reeves and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker in "Night Watch". Directed by David Ayer, who wrote "Training Day" and helmed "Harsh Times", the story centers on a veteran LAPD cop (Reeves), who not only turned to the bottle after his wife's death, but is framed by his former mentor (Whitaker) in the murder of a fellow officer.
Cedric: I'm doing this movie that's shooting in LA called "Night Watch". David Ayer is directing it. I play an informant named Scribbles. There are all these corrupt cops and they are getting information from this modern day "Huggy Bear", but it's not comedic. I'm a street guy and I'm on some drugs a little bit. The director said that this would be a great serious role for me.
This film should be one to watch since it also has Chris Evans, Hugh Laurie (TV's House), Terry Crews, rapper-actor Common, and Naomie Harris.
He must have received some advise from MoNique after she did her serious turn in "Shadowboxer" last year. The two of the them are in "The Better Man", which also stars Martin Lawrence, Nicole Ari Parker, Mike Epps, James Earl Jones, The Color Purple's Margaret Avery, and Joy Bryant. Malcolm Lee, who's done "The Best Man", "Undercover Brother", and "Roll Bounce" is directing this comedy.

Good for Cedric, I think he's a really good guy and funny. I know that he'll take this part and put his all in it. If he wants to go into more serious acting I hope this is the role that opens that door for him.
If it does great, but I hope he still does the comedic stuff sometimes too.
You go ahead and do your thing Ceddie, because I really
enjoy you doing what you do, making me laugh and now I know I will enjoy you doing serious stuff.

This will be a welcome change for your fans....though, don't get me wrong...we LOVE seeing you in comedies. I'm still recalling alot of your hilarious material from your Taking Me Higher DVD and walkin' around the house, singing that silly song you sang "Where's the Remote..." ha, ha...you crack me up! Being able to enjoy your diversity as a serious actor will be just as exciting, I'm sure...May God continue to bless all that you do.
