Having had lead roles in "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Woman Thou Art Loosed" is always a good thing, but Kimberly Elise has had some impressive supporting roles, and mostly recently a small role in "Pride", but she also has worked with Oscar Winner Denzel Washington in two of his films, "John Q" and "The Manchurian Candidate".
You can now make that 3 films now that Washington has cast her in "The Great Debaters", in which he will direct. Instead of being paired with him again, Elise will play Oscar winner Forest Whitaker's wife.
The film is about an East Texas debate team that challenges Harvard in the 1930s. Also cast in the film are Columbus Short, Nate Parker, and Jermaine Williams. Filming is currently taking place in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Her TV gig, "Close to Home", was recently cancelled by CBS, but at least her film career continues to thrive!

I've liked her work since I first saw her in Set It Off, I'm happy to see her climbing to the top! I'm not sure if I'm going to continue to watc Close To Home, b/c she was the reason I first started watching it in the first place. You keep striving, Lady!

One God, one aim, one destiny. Good to see positive representation in film. That includes all actors and actresses of African origin, that refuse to take on sleezy roles. Stay positive and keep the torch BURNIN....

That's what I like to see, people in the black community not only doing great things but trying to live right. This is great representation.

Kudos, for Denzel reaching out to the fantastic black female actresses that are out there. They don't get enough opportunities to work and Kimberly Elise is one of those talented people we don't get to see enough of on the big or little screen.
I love to see black love.. :o)

Another underrated actress. I love all of her work! It is a shame that Hollywood does not know how to recognize the talent our people have. Outside of the stereotypical roles, it is tough to be a black actor. Keep doing what you do Elise!
