Census: Minorities Now Surpass Whites In US Births
Having had lead roles in "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Woman Thou Art Loosed" is always a good thing, but Kimberly Elise has had some impressive supporting roles, and mostly recently a small role in "Pride", but she also has worked with Oscar Winner Denzel Washington in two of his films, "John Q" and "The Manchurian Candidate".
You can now make that 3 films now that Washington has cast her in "The Great Debaters", in which he will direct. Instead of being paired with him again, Elise will play Oscar winner Forest Whitaker's wife.
The film is about an East Texas debate team that challenges Harvard in the 1930s. Also cast in the film are Columbus Short, Nate Parker, and Jermaine Williams. Filming is currently taking place in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Her TV gig, "Close to Home", was recently cancelled by CBS, but at least her film career continues to thrive!

I think since the movie has Kimberly Elise and Denzel Washington in it it's going to be a great movie. I can't wait till it comes out at the movies.

Mr. Washington has few peers in the acting world mainly because he refuses to settle for the mediocre and we get to view life in the roles he plays through the eyes of a REAL Black man. He makes us proud. He is this generations' quintessential Sidney Portier. As for Ms. Elise, most of us have loved her as we watched her emerge from the shadows in "Beloved." In her roles, she has been the emotional barometer for anguished Black women everywhere. God prosper them both.
