While there's certainly been a lack of sistas on the big screen this summer, with the notable exception of 7 (Kerry Washington, Wanda Sykes, Garcelle Beauvais, Naomie Harris, Taraji P. Henson, Tamala Jones, and Queen Latifah), the Fall season change that outlook, with Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, and a few others featured in some major films.
In what is sure to be an action packed film, singer-songwriter Ashanti will be featured in "Resident Evil: Extinction", which hits theaters in September.
The second sequel to the $100 million hit, "Resident Evil: Extinction" is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Milla Jovovich reprises her role as Alice.
Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke ) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive. Ashanti stars as Nurse Betty: A tough young woman who knows how to handle herself. As her name suggest she is a nurse and aids members of the group to full recovery. For more pics on the film click here
I will be interested to see Ashanti in this action-oriented film. Since she did her first film, "Coach Carter" in 2005, she then followed it up with "John Tucker Must Die" and the telefilm, "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz.The trailer below suggests a new range for this Grammy award singer-somgwriter.

Even though she's not a very good actress, if I have to see her I prefer her on film because it keeps her away from a microphone 'cause lawd knows that child cannot sing!!! Keep on actin' girl.

ASHANTI IS A PRETTY GOOD ACTRESS FOR SOMEONE WITH NO FORMAL TRAINING. IF MASTER P CAN ACT WHY NOT ASHATI.AND IN MY OPINION SHE IS CUTER THAN BEYONCE.

this is good for her carrer......that last movie"john tucker must die" was the worst acting by a black female r&b artist....and with murder inc or "the inc" hitting roc bottom pushing her carrer back, this is a good start for her to do the solo thing....with her singing ability, and age, she has a good chance to resurface and do major numbers again.

I'm glad to see Ashanti again. I like her singing and I hope she is successful in resurrecting her career, be it singing or acting. Another beautiful sister doing her thing is always good.

#4 your opinions are warped. I wish her success in her film career. She is indeed a good actress and with more roles she can only get better.

I think Ashanti is an excellent singer/entertainer. She has a beautiful voice, when she is actually singing a challenging song instead of all those teeny-bopper pop songs they have her singing. As far as her acting goes, . . . . she's okay. As # 4 (VJ) said, she does alright for someone w/ no "formal" training. But, I still like seeing her in movies. & can't wait until this one comes out so I can see her as someone other than a high school student in kids movies.

Most people do not like Ashanti as anything, but I love her. Her singing is ok...she's no Patti or Fantasia, but she's ok,better than some. And, her acting is good...I think she have talent. I watched her on Buffy and she played a good demon. I watched her on Coach Carter and I believe she did her thing. So, I can't wait until Resident Evil 3 comes out...I love the other two, let's see how I like this one. Ashanti keep doing you luv!
