Right before I left for San Diego last week, I spoke to John Singleton on his producing duties for his next film, Illegal Tender, which comes out on August 24. As I mentioned to him that I was leaving for Comic Con, I had to bring up the never-ending topic of him directing 'Luke Cage, based on the comic book. He's been attached to do this film for years with Tyrese playing the superhero, but the film can't get off the ground. He told me that it's a toss up between that film and 'The Black Panther' as which film will come first.
What's going with 'Luke Cage'? Seems that this is a never ending subject, especially since San Diego Comic Con is happening this week.
John Singleton: There is a race to see if I'm going to do 'Luke Cage' first or 'Black Panther'. I really wanted to do both of those pictures. I've always been a fan of Marvel comics, so it depends. I can do 'Cage' or 'Black Panther'. I've just been approached about doing 'Black Panther'.
What's the holdup with 'Luke Cage'? Is there even a script in place?
JS: There's scripts on it. Hollywood has a very limiting view on what makes a pop culture picture. If you put a black face on it, they think it's black thing; but yet we have all these movies that have come up and whenever they any black people in it, they make all this money. That's the thing that's holding 'Luke Cage' up. They think it's a small superhero movie. It's not going to be a small stupid movie like 'Meteor Man'. I'm trying to make 'Luke Cage'.

I don't understand why our black fortunate film producers, makers, actor(s), etc. is not trying to get their voice and focus on what is really going on everyday in,near and around us (black people). I am a very talented black women with three (3) young black sons, and a deceased father, who have been fighting for the last three 1/3 years against a system I will not and do not agree with, pertaining to not only my sons, but any black child this system has to do with their raising. It's the here called, "Division Family Services". I named them "Dividing Family Stability", I will eventually write a book and find a producer that can relate to the "unspoken violence of our black men", kidnapped, abused, neglected and assaulted by this so-called family services bullshit". My point to all our black, africian american, colored, or whatever we will be called by their society, I pray we will pay attention, listen and get involved with the raising of our black generation. I am 43 and my sons are 5, 7, & 11, to be young, black and fatherless in this world's three-strike out rule(s), my sons don't have a chance? Bullshit, or I will die trying to give them one. Please help us help each other. Black Men, You all are born Kings from birth, learn who you are and where you come from; the secret to a man's soul is his idenity; your father's regardless if he was there or not, when you hear words like, "You just like yo daddy", instead of looking at yourself as though that is a bad thing; I want you to always know, the next time you hear those words, look in the mirror and say to yourself, "You sho right, and if the world could be just like my daddy"!!! Keep your heads up, and go pick up a brother or sister's head, that can't keep their up. Until next time. Mother Against Dividing Family Stability. My case is in "Appeal" process, y'all pray for me and my boys. They were wanted, and we do not need the system, not even for an "idea", meaning not one single thought, let along their food stamps or checks.

Michael Jai White for Black Panther all the way as long as he can turn down his 'overacting' a bit. He's a good looking guy and has the super hero physique going on. Has height, the voice also. Wesley is good, but he's a bit short and already taken with Blade. He is a better actor than Michael though. Tyrese is just another loud ass talking scrawny dude. Haven't seen him play any roles that struck me like he could play a leader.
I want someone that if some crossover was made with the other marvel characters, he wouldn't disappear. Unless Tyrese is talking his loud shit, he'll just disappear. Wesley has presence, but Michael has more of the qualities that would make for a strong majestic Marvel superhero and he's definitely the best looking. It would be nice to see a good looking brotha' standing next to the other marvel characters. Superman, batman, iron man, hulk, xmen are all full of "good looking" people. They also have height. wesley is a shorty and tyrese is scrawny, loud, and too familiar. Michael all the way...
