Why can't Cuba Gooding Jr. get a good script to work with? Since he won the Oscar in '96 for 'Jerry Maguire', and with the exception of supporting roles in 'As Good as it Gets', and 'Men of Honor', all of his other films never generate any buzz or does huge box office numbers. His role 'Snow Dogs' did make a lot of money for Disney, but when you have 'Instinct', 'Chill Factor', 'Boat Trip', 'Shadowboxer', and 'Norbit' to your credit, the bad outweighs the good. Coming up for him now is 'Daddy Day Camp', the sequel to the film (Daddy Day Care) that Eddie Murphy made a hit, but in which Cuba now plays his role. 'Daddy Day Camp' opens on August 8, 2007,
This hilarious sequel to the smash hit "Daddy Day Care" finds dads Charlie Hinton and Phil Ryerson (Cuba Gooding Jr., Paul Rae) in another kid-harried adventure as they take over running a summer day camp. Armed with no knowledge of the great outdoors, a dilapidated facility, and a motley group of campers, it doesn't take long before things get out of control. Up against threats of foreclosure and declining enrollment Charlie is forced to call on his estranged father, Col Buck Hinton (Richard Gant) to help bring the camp together and teach everyone about teamwork, perseverance and the power of forgiveness. Also starring in the film are Tamala Jones, Paul Rae, Joshua McLerran, Spencir Bridges, and Brian Doyle-Murray.
What's weird about this film is that usually when there's a sequel to a film and the lead character is replaced by another actor, the film doesn't have its fans and loses its appeal like 'Grease 2', "The Hollow Man 2', and the series of the Batman franchise that started with Michael Keaton, only to see him replaced with Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Neither of their films did well critically, which is why they reignited the franchise with Christian Bale. If Cuba can somehow convince parents to come out with their kids and make 'Daddy Day Camp' a hit, then he can reinvent his career. If not, let's wait for 'American Gangster' to come out, where he plays legendary gangster Nicky Barnes.

Well, at least Cuba is doing what he has to do to take care of his family, unlike Mr. Toni Braxton, who seems to be MIA.

cuba is one of the most dynamic, strong actor in the hollywood crowd. he just don't get the strong powerful roles that suits his vibirant, highly physical ass-kicking masculine roles. he ne4eds to replace chris tucker in rush hour 3 with jackie chan.
