The people, NOT the critics, have spoken! 'Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?' is the number one film at the box office, having grossed a little over $21 million dollars. Most box office analysts had predicted that the film would be number one, but until Friday's tally came in, they had the film grossing anywhere from $12 to $15 million. Granted, his last film, 'Daddy's Little Girls,' opened up at $11 million, but with star power added in this film with Janet Jackson and Jill Scott, as well as Perry acting in the film, which he didn't do in the last one, success was guaranteed.
Judging by some of the reports I've been reading, everyone seems to agree that this is his best film to date and that they found the film enjoyable and something they can probably compare their lives with.
Coming in a distant second, but still doing well at the box office was 'The Game Plan' with The Rock. That film grossed half of 'WDIGM''s take with about $11 million. So far, the family-friendly film has taken in close to $60 million. With less kids films out in theaters now, the film was destined to be a hit, especially with parents eager to take the tots outside for some air.
With a slew of new movies opening up this week, including Halle Berry's 'Things We Lost in the Fire,' Perry faces the task of keeping his #1 status, but if folks who loved the film spread the word, all good things will come for the film.

It was a wonderful movie. Janet Jackson got top billing, but Jill Scott stole the show, I felt her raw emotion, on screen. By far this is the best Tyler Perry movie.

I saw it twice this weekend, ha ha. This was Janet's best outing on film. I mean the entire cast was great ... Jill, Tyler Tasha, Malik, Sharon, Denise, Michael, Richard Lamann and Tyler of course - they did the damn thing. I came away with no complaints. Good job - proud to be a fan of all involved!

This movie is incredible! And like all his other movies, the situations and relationships in this movie are something that everyone, black or white, can relate to. The cast was incredible, and it was almost too much to handle to sit and look at the men in this movie...lol. It was almost too much fineness!

What a wonderful emotional roller coaster. The cast was awesome. Especially the eye candy. Can you imagine how much more money he would draw if it was in more than 2000 theatres. Only in Racist US would they attempt to keep a good black man down. Thanks to all of TP fans who supported him and let Hollywood know that when we are behind someone they WILL STILL RISE.
The fans did a great job also. Now let's see if all the cast and the picture gets a OSCAR.

This movie brings in all to the table; Talent, story, laughter, tears, cheers, beautiful black people and that wonderful feeling of having a great movie experience with family/friends. It has made my list of movies to see over and over again.
