Before anyone starts to think whether or not this is another version of 'Monster's Ball', it's not, but Halle Berry does give another courageous performance as a woman dealing with a loss in 'Things We Lost in the Fire'.
After an unspeakable tragedy, two people get a second chance at life in "Things We Lost in the Fire." When Audrey Burke (Halle Berry) loses her husband in an act of random violence, she forges an unlikely relationship with Jerry Sunborne (Benicio Del Toro), her husband's best friend from childhood. Jerry is a heroin user; his addiction has destroyed everything that was once important to him. As Audrey discovers that Jerry is the only person who can help her survive her loss, Jerry finds the strength to overcome his own problems. Cast also includes David Duchovny, Omar Benson Miller and Alison Lohman.
Currently pregnant and a new perspective on life, Berry certainly can talk about being a mom on-screen and the prospects of being a mom.

Who says that Tyler Perry even considered Halle Berry for his film? I like Halle and Beyonce, but white people seems to feel that those two are the epitome of the black race. Not too dark, straight hair, (weave in Beyonce's case) and have mass appeal. They're both light enough so not to offend the white folks. I just wish the two of them could see what is truly happening and just once say no to something and take a stand against this type of racism. I know they want to get paid and all, but by taking everything that's thrown their way, they're basically endorsing this type of thinking.

HALLE BERRY CANNOT ACT SHE IS JUST BEAUTIFUL THAT IS THE ONLY REASON SHE IS IN HOLLYWOOD SHE WON AN OSCAR WHY I DON'T KNOW THE TONE OF HER VOICE IS EVEN ANNOYING TO ME IF SHE WAS TALLER MAYBE SHE WOULD HAVE MADE A BETTER MODEL YES SHE IS A MODEL FOR A MAKEUP COMPANY BUT, I AM SPEAKING OF RUN WAY MODELING. HER MOVIES JUST DO NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME THE ONLY MOVIE SHE MADE THAT I REALLY LOVED IS THAT ONE WITH SAMUEL JACKSON WHERE SHE LOST HER SON TO THE WHITE FAMILY THAT WAS A GOOD MOVIE BUT, HER MOVIES SINCE THEN AND SINCE SHE WON THE OSCAR HAS BEEN JUNK I AGREE SHE SHOULD TRY ONE OF TYLER PERRY MOVIES BUT, MAYBE HE KNOW THAT SHE WILL NOT BE A GOOD FIT FOR HIS MOVIES BECASUE PEOPLE ARE NOT RUSING TO THE THEATER TO SEE HER WE WANT TO SEE PEOPLE LIKE JILL SCOTT,SHARON LEAL, JANET JACKSON SHE SHOULD JUST FOCUS ON BEING A MOTHER AND LEAVE ACTION ALONE FOR AWHILE.

Halle is one of the most beautiful actresses in the USA today. She is obviously not as racist as some of her critics since she did give several Afro-American men a chance to be with her, but they betrayed her love. She finally has a chance at happiness through motherhood with a partner who seems to be right for her. Why would anyone criticize her on racial grounds except someone who is a bigot? Bless you Halle who survived all the black men who betrayed you including your father. When will we wake up and realize that new values are in order for many of us of African descent? The father is the backbone of the family. One of the weaknesses of our black race seems to be the lack of commitment of too many of our fathers to their families. In many poor culture around the world, fathers stick to and cling to their women and children. Not so in far too many families of African descent. Back to Berry: God bless you my child for neer forgetting who you are despite the heavy dues you have had to pay to maintain your identity. Much love and happiness to you. From a proud Black Woman

Ya know, I wish the day would finally come when "sistas" like you above , finally get REAL about what you feel when it comes to Halle ( not Halley), and Beyonce..you're J E A L O U S. Yep. You're jealous of the features women like them have, the hair, the skin, and the attention they get and you don't. Now back away from the gun for a minute cause I'm no B or Halle either. But the heart of the jealousy and anger comes from the fact that no matter how many millions they give to Queen to finally get our foundations and blushes the right shade, the world still does not think we are beautiful. They think finally admitting this plethora of daughters of black men and their white women are beautiful(Hey,every woman thinks their daughter is beautiful). But I digress. The truth is that Halle IS an incrediblee actress and it's not her fault that the film industry still doesn't give us our due. They don't even give white women theirs. And watch the HBO of Beyonce on tour, watch as if you were a music critic and then try and fix your mouth to say she's not talented and can't sing. How many others are on stage, in packed arenas, two full hours singing, not one song lip-synced but full voice, dancing w/ the energy of Tina back in the day in 10 in. heels and staying on key too(sorry MJ and AK).Not saying you have to like Halle or B. but give them their due and stop "saying" you think you are beautiful and allow the thought to become a reality. When you become truly comfortable in the FACT that your "medium-brown"skin is gorgeous as is your hair BEFORE the weave, you'll find you can discuss a Halle movie without the resentment. Shoot, resent YT and his false beauty standards still around today.

Cudos to Halley!! It's not a color thing....acting is acting, either your good or you're not and Halley has proven how good she is. Remember Jungle Fever(she played a crack head)and did a great job for her really first movie! You people need to stop hattin on our beautiful black women! If you are not in the industry, you don't know what's going on and how actors are chosen or chose the roles they play. Don't hate, participate!
