It was a small battle, but in the end, the horror genre film '30 Days of Night' beat out Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? for box office supremacy. '30 Days' grossed about $16 million while Perry's film grabbed about $12.1 million dollars, only falling 43% from its previous week. It took second place honors. That's great news for Perry and Lionsgate. It states that more folks are turning out than expected after the good word of mouth and that it may end grossing somewhere over $70 million in the long run, which would be a new high for all parties involved.

What's sad about this past weekend is that Halle Berry's latest film, 'Things I Lost in the Fire' grossed a dismal $1.6 million to land in 15th place. Although it only played in 1142 theaters, it still should have performed better. Some folks thought she gave a better performance here than she gave in 'Monster's Ball', but not a lot of support was shown at the box office. Meanwhile, continuing to have legs in 'The Game Plan' with The Rock. It just shows that when you have one 'Black' film and one 'kid' film out in theaters, you are going to grab its fans and stay in the game and not worry about competition.
There are a slew of films opening up each week and some films are not holding up to their potential. Films like 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' with Cate Blanchett and Clive Owen, 'Rendition' with Reese Witherspoon, 'The Comebacks' with Carl Weathers, 'The Heartbreak Kid' with Ben Stiller, have all failed to grab an audiennce, and we still have lots of fims left in October that haven't opened yet.

So what if he came in second this weekend. Last weekend is when it mattered and when it counted the most, so who cares if he came in second. Get a life

I am so tired of seeing Halle Berry playing the distraught victim! And why can't she play opposite a Black actor, like Denzel or Will Smith? She doesn't seem to care if Blacks want to see her movies or not, which is why, I think, her movies tank if she's not part of an ensemble cast. I'll take Tyler Perry's movies any time!

I doubt the Horror movie beat out Tyler Perry's. About a 2 weeks ago Tyler Perry was on the radio talking about how some theaters are mistakely giving out the wrong tickets. Well, I had that happen to me, so I'm sure it's happening to others also.
