Rock star Lenny Kravitz will finally follow the steps of his mother, actress Roxie Roker (The Jeffersons), ex-wife Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show), and daughter Zoe (The Brave One) and make his acting debut in the independent film 'Push', which is being directed by Lee Daniels.
Also featured in the film are Mo'nique, Paula Patton and newcomer Gabourey "Gabbie" Sidibe.
According to Variety, the film is about Clareece "Precious" Jones, an overweight, illiterate African-American teen in Harlem. Mo'nique plays the girl's mother and Kravitz plays a nurse who shows kindness to Jones.
The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sapphire (Ramona Lofton).
As producer, Daniels recently wrapped the Mariah Carey starrer "Tennessee," directed by Aaron Woodley and financed by Smokewood Entertainment Group.

I read this book some years ago and it made me sick, literally. Although the book was good, it was also very disturbing. The mother, which Monique is playing, needed her butt kicked. I can't say that I'm in a rush to see this movie. If its like the book, its just a little to disturbing for me. I can't remember if this was based on truth but in the event that it is, wow....wow is all I can say.

Folks we really need to get back on the The Cosby Show train.
We know we know, Black women put their men first, while dealing with an abusive realtionship, get preganant out of wedlock, are not academically inclined unless pushed and so on and so on..............
And great what an actress to pick Monique(the second Queen Latifah)I wonder if she'll EVER get displayed without being loud and ghetto. I like Moniques spirit though.
We just NEED MORE DIVERSITY IN THE MEDIA, FOR OUR IMAGES SAKE.
