While promoting the DVD release of 'Illegal Tender', in which he produced, and coming out on Dec.18, John Singleton has confirmed what LatinoReview.com had posted earlier; that he will be directing a big screen version of TV series, 'The A-Team'.
At the same time, he also confirmed that he will NOT be directing 'Executive Order: Six' as previously reported by trade outlets.
The TV-Show, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard and Mr. T, concerned an unofficial team of Vietnam vets wanted by the military for a crime they didn't commit. Their action-packed adventures combined helping the innocent while running from the law.
According to the site, The film has been in development for years, but only now is it finally gaining momentum.
Stephen J. Cannell, who created the show, will produce the movie with Spike Seldin.
Mark Silvestri will executive produce with Alex Young assigned to oversee the flick at Fox.
The new 'A-Team' will be updated from the Vietnam era and reflect contemporary issues and politics. Tone of the film will be less cartoony and more serious, in the vein of 'Die Hard' and 'Lethal Weapon.'

I love A-Team as a kid and can't wait for it to come out. I hope Mr. T has some type of role in the movie. Also I hope some big time actors sign on to the project to make it a hit at the box office. Ving Rhames would be great as B.A. Baracas.

Hey Sly what's up with these shameless plugs? Interracial stuff is not new. Check your history, check your Bible. Are the people on the site biracial or is this one of those creepy dating services for people who believe anything that looks like them is wrong?

A-TEAM,huh ?!? i guess with all the other t.v. shows made in to movies it was to be expected...can't say i'm hating on the idea..but it'd definetly have to be more violent then the actual show...saw a rerun a few years ago.and although it somewhat held up.the amount of explosions and bullet flying in the show (and every other show)and no resulting injuries and deaths was a little questionable.
i will say when i first heard about a possible movie, the wish list for a cast was DENIRO as "hannibal" VING RHAMES as "B A barracus" JIM CARREY as "murdock" and BRAD PITT as "face"....i thought "WOW that be pretty cool!" but let's be real,i don't think that would happen....be a hell of a cast though!

@ Al and Just My Opinion..........exactly, u both read my mind....ving rhames, jim carey, and either robert deniro or sean penn. i doubt john singleton will be able to get brad pitt, but i always had this horrible thought that colin ferell would somehow be in this picture if not jude law.and of course either james remar or michael ironside as col. decker.this has been my ovarall favorite tv show of all time so it is a delight to see it on the big screen.......hey!, it could be worst, there could be a big screen version of GIRLFRIENDS, lol.

Where is the originality that John Singleton was known for? Doing remakes of old television shows is just weak and unimaginative. I want to see what a producer is thinking on all levels, not just on the recycling level.
