When it airs in a few months on BBC, 'The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency', which stars Jill Scott as the lead, also has an impressive male cast as well. Added to the cast are British actors Idris Elba, John Kani, Desmond Dube, Lucian Msamati, David Oyelowo, and Colin Salmon.
Based on the best-selling novel series by Alexander McCall Smith, "Detective Agency" chronicles the adventures of Precious Ramotswe, the proprietor of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Singer Jill Scott will take the lead role of Precious Ramotswe in the Botswana-based version of Alexander McCall Smith's best-selling novel, which will be directed and written by Anthony Minghella and co-written by Richard Curtis.

As a child, Precious learns from her father a great love for her country and the skills necessary to make a fine detective. After his death, Precious sets up her agency. It is a risky endeavour but with the help of her quirky secretary, Mma Makutsi (Anika Noni Rose), she soon finds her services much in demand. Precious investigates cases, helps people solve problems in their lives, and soon finds a special friendship blossoming with JLB Matekoni (Lucian Msamati), the highly respectable and slightly shy owner of Tklokweng Road Speedy Motors.

It's a shame that we have to go to the UK to get a series like this done. Is there something wrong with the USA????

#2 I guess you did not understand the context of the movie- Family is Family regardless of who they are and what they do. No family is perfect!!!!

What type of stupid B are you? You sound like the jealous ugly on the inside and outside type. You jealous ugly people hate when someone is doing something good.
Everyone reading your post knows that your ugly and jealous....the sad part is... you don't know that we know you are that type of person...your statement tells it all.
Danielle....your jealous...your jealous...your jealous

I agree with you 100%, MS. I want to add one other thing, Danielle is an ASS. Her statement, regardless to whether she values it as an opinion or not, was ignorant.

i don't want to add on to the much needed insults of daniell but,it's not going to be in theaters...if it's airing on the BBC (which is british telly by the way)it'll be on TV here...most cable stations carry the BBC.which, more often than not, does have some pretty quality programing.
my question is,with all these british folk in the movie, will jill scott and anika noni rose be sporting british accents ????
i was also wondering when idris would be going back across the pond to do his thing.

Give it up for the BBC! Where was Reg Hudlin and BET? Rather than trip on what Danielle wrote and call her names, you should ask why so many depictions of Black folk gots ta have some coonin in it? Or have you too been BAMBOOZLED?
If you are gonna attack someone, how about attacking someone who's asking if "something is wrong with the usa". No disrespect but that is a DUMBASS question.
But I digress, djw shows how its done... With teaching. Is name calling like cursing in that those who resort to it simply can't do anything else?

Its nice to that a variety of African American movies are coming out and to see our people displayed in a variety of different ways...not typecast. We are doing big things and Im so proud. There are stories that need to be told and we are telling them.
As for Danielle...I really dont want to add another Amen to the MS's comment...but you really did sound ignorant and the comment didnt make you look or sound cute, it made you sound silly, stupid and need I mention again.."ignorant"? Wake up, little girl...wake up.

DANIELLE, BLACK FOLK NEED AS MUCH HUMOR, CREATIVITY AND PRODUCTIVITY AS WE CAN GET. THE GREAT "GODFREY" ONCE SAID WHEN HE WAS BEING CRITICIZED FOR TAKING JANITORIAL ROLES " I BET I'LL BE ON TV BEFORE YA'LL"
