When it airs in a few months on BBC, 'The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency', which stars Jill Scott as the lead, also has an impressive male cast as well. Added to the cast are British actors Idris Elba, John Kani, Desmond Dube, Lucian Msamati, David Oyelowo, and Colin Salmon.
Based on the best-selling novel series by Alexander McCall Smith, "Detective Agency" chronicles the adventures of Precious Ramotswe, the proprietor of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Singer Jill Scott will take the lead role of Precious Ramotswe in the Botswana-based version of Alexander McCall Smith's best-selling novel, which will be directed and written by Anthony Minghella and co-written by Richard Curtis.

As a child, Precious learns from her father a great love for her country and the skills necessary to make a fine detective. After his death, Precious sets up her agency. It is a risky endeavour but with the help of her quirky secretary, Mma Makutsi (Anika Noni Rose), she soon finds her services much in demand. Precious investigates cases, helps people solve problems in their lives, and soon finds a special friendship blossoming with JLB Matekoni (Lucian Msamati), the highly respectable and slightly shy owner of Tklokweng Road Speedy Motors.

Lets give it up for Botswana Government too. They manged to sponsor the no 1 ladies detective film series to show case as Anthony Minghella avidly puts it "a privilage to be working on a film which celebrates what we can learn from Africa and not what we think we can teach it". Right now the Government in negotiating with the prioducers to officiallly make "Kgalewood" the no 1 tourist site in Gaborone for the benefit of their people and no1 fans to visit. You can take a video tour at http://www.kgalewood.com. Lets enjoy and stop bickering .
