Although it made a lot of money for the studio (Paramount Pictures), the people have spoken.
According to its website, Many a RAZZIE record was broken at this weekend's 28th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, which dis-honor Worst Achievements in Film.
Eddie Murphy became the first performer ever to win three of the four Worst Acting trophies in a single year - all for his multiple roles in the film everyone assumes cost him last year's Best Supporting Actor Oscar for DREAMGIRLS. As the nerdy title character in NORBIT, Eddie was named Worst Actor.
Painted orange and sporting about four pounds of Latex, Murphy was also chosen Worst Supporting Actor for his ethnically insensitive portrayal of "Mr. Wong." And, in a wig and sporting about 400-pounds of Latex, Murphy took the trophy as Worst Supporting Actress for his portrayal of the foul-mouthed, ill-tempered harpy Rasputia in the same film.
Playing two characters who may (or may not) have been twins in I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, Lindsay Lohan equaled Eddie's triple "achievement." Nominated individually for each of her characters, Lindsay "won" a pair of Worst Actress statuettes when she received the same number of votes for both roles. And, for a scene in which she appears opposite herself at the film's finale, Lohan was also RAZZed as the year's Worst Screen Couple. The film itself, with a less-than-grand total of 8 "wins" from its 9 nominations, broke the long-standing record for most RAZZIES® "won" by a single film. SHOWGIRLS and BATTLEFIELD EARTH, each with 7 "wins," had previously been the champions. In addition to Lindsay's twinsy "wins," KILLED ME copped the awards as Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie and Worst Remake or Rip-Off (where it competed as both a rip-off of the HOSTEL and SAW teen-torture-porn movies and an oddball remake of the 1960s sitcom THE PATTY DUKE SHOW).
The lone "winner" not associated with either KILLED ME or NORBIT still had something to do with Eddie Murphy. An Eddie-Murphy-Sequel-without-Eddie-Murphy, the pooping, belching, vomiting, cacophonous kiddy "comedy" DADDY DAY CAMP was crowned Worst Prequel or Sequel.

Eddie Murphy's career has been on a torried downward spiral ever since he was sued by New York Playwright Gregory L. Hudson, in a $100M dollar copyright infringement lawsuit over the hit movie LIFE, starring Eddie and Martin Lawrence. The lawsuit was filed back in 2002, has been to the Supreme Court of the U.S. and is still pending in the Southern District Court of New York as of today, February 24, 2008. Maybe studios are reluntant to bank on him anymore, forcing him to accept such movies as NORBIT, because so many copyright infringement lawsuit have been filed against him; "coming to america;" "harlem nights;" "life;" "the P.J's;" "nutty professor II;" These lawsuits have cost the studios fortunes and even if they made profits; a big chunck is lost in legal fees and reputations turnished. You can log on to www.poorpennyproductions.com and find information on these lawsuits. Unless Eddie Murphy begin to come clean and properly credit and compensate the true creators of the works he's involved in...his career may well continue in this downward spiral and the "razzies maybe a permenant fixture" in Eddie Murphy's career.

Eddie Murphy's career has been on a downward spiral because nobody makes it in Hollywood alone. Creativity and talent are gifts from the Creator. It flows as a blessing to the individual for living life in a specific way sharing the credit with others. Eddie's movie career works best when he shares the credit instead of hogging all the parts. The Clumps were funny, but you can't fart your way to an Oscar. Norbit was strictly a role for television.

Eddie Murphy is a genious. People who "don't get it" and in turn, feel the need to "put down" on what they don't understand, are responsible for negative media commentary about movies like Norbit. Norbit ROCKS, Eddie Murphy ROCKS, and I am so VERY greatful that Eddie Murphy continues to make these masterpieces of humor, bringing hours of laughter and forming great memories to and in our miserable little lives. Long live NORBIT!!!

For years hollywood has given big movie deals to anyone that was connected with sat night live. very few of these actors or actresses have made any really good comedies. most are awful and really pitiful and are silly and plain stupid. However the problem might be with more of the comedy writers in hollywood than the actors because they just read their lines. Good at Will Ferrell he is running out of sports heroes to play on the screen. Maybe the actors actresses and writers should just write about everyday things that happen in real life that are usually more humorous than trying to act silly or dumb in a role.

Every actor is allowed to make a "dud" every once in a while...though, personally, I found 'Norbit' somewhat entertaining, I've been able to appreciate the overall talent of Murphy, starting with Saturday Night Live...over the years, he's awed us with his creative genius and multiple characters, like in "Coming to America" and "The Nutty Professor". Nothing can taint his ability to make us laugh - not even a round table of stuffed-shirts and/or blouses.

I don't know who all voted for Norbit being one of the worst movies. But there needs to be a re-count. It must of been maybe over-weight, nerdy, and asians that might of been offended. But Norbit was funny as I don't know what. I've watched it about 15 times and laughed each and everytime and will look at it again and again. Eddie Murphy out did hisself in Norbit.
