Coming out on April 11th is a very gritty film called 'Street Kings' starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Naomie Harris, Jay Mohr, John Corbett, Cedric the Entertainer, Amaury Nolasco, Terry Crews, Common, and The Game.
Reeves plays Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD Vice Detective, who sets out on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner, Detective Terrance Washington (Crews).
Whitaker plays Captain Wander, Ludlo's supervisor, whose duties include keeping him within the confines of the law and out of the clutches of Internal Affairs Captain Biggs (Laurie). Ludlow teams up with a young Robbery Homicide Detective (Evans) to track Washington's killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles.
Their determination pays off when the two Detectives track down Washington's murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice.
David Ayers, who directed the film, also wrote 'Training Day', which garnered Denzel Washington his second Academy Award.

I really do hope and pray that with a wonderful break like this keanu will achieve more in his acting career with an oscar nomination and an award . I really believe this film and his co actors will bring out the best in him. The best of everything for you Keanu Charles Reeves.

I love Keanu Reeves and granted some of his roles have not been the best, but, there have been a lot where he's had to really dig deep to get to that place to pull that particular character off. I love him in The Replacements and Lake House, but he scares the bejeezus out of me in The Watchman. THAT is acting folks, no two ways about it. From all the clips I've seen of STREET KINGS, this is one intense movie and I can't wait to see it and GO KEANU for an OSCAR!!!!!

I've loved Keanu since Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (my son watched that movie a million times.) He has grown into a gorgeous man and I hope that he will do roles that showcase the best of his talents. What Ayers brought out of Denzel in Training Day was amazing. I hope that Keanu will find at least that much depth in his character. Forest Whittacre is an incredible actor. It should be a great film.

My hat comes off to David Ayers as a Director, but I have lost all respect for his writing talents because I believe that both "Training Day" and his new film "Street Kings", gained their inspiration from the contents of my best selling Novels, "White Man Brown: The Hip Hop Godfather", and another book in that same series, "White Man Brown: A Failure of the American Dream".
Unfortunately, while both of my above mentioned books have sold in the millions, the problem that is crime finds its ultimate expression and source in the country's corporate economy. Even under criminal law, much of it enacted just recently, the corporation and its official are liable for a whole range of harms committed against people. I have come to recognize at this time that some parts of our lives and our environment are being victimized by corporations.
Based on the infringement of my intellectual copyrights, the violation of my trademark and several contract agreements, I have come to recognize these corporate crimes, and the character of the corporation itself as hit close to home for me. The nation's leading corporations are committing destructive criminal acts systematically and repeatedly; not randomly and occasionally, but as a standard operating procedure. To ensure profits at minimal expense,these corporations are willfully engaging in crime. As legal entities, they and some of the corporate officials who make decisions, are criminals and therein lies the reasons for the many economic crimes that have been perpetrated aginst me to date, including the crime of embezzlement and as mentioned above, the infringement of my intellectual copyrights, and the violation of my trademark,contract agreements, and artistic creations.
Those of you who have knowledge of the Website that I was instrumental in building from the ground up, www.cjohnsonenterprisesltd.com, are aware that I built that Website as a business and as a means of financial gain, and most importantly, to serve the American public and its welfare. But there are those in business or professional life in these United States who follow the basic patterns of capitalist society. An economy of competition and success, as well as economic gain, promotes a form of life emphasizing the rightness of any activity pursued in the interest of one's business or occupation. Consequently, so called "respectable" members such as David Ayers and some others I could mention, engage in criminal activities of crimes usually not traditionly considered by them or most of the public as criminal. But I submit, that to steal from one's mind is not only a crime, it is an abomination against all of Mankind and violates the basic laws of literature(literateur).
I consider myself one of the best writers in this country, but apparently I can't generate one iota of respect from certain segments of this society. I wonder if that is because I'm black, because I have not heard of James Patterson, or Stephen King having their works absconded with and infringed upon. Oh well, we will see how all of this plays out, because I have some of those brotherly traits that believes in kicking back, and as a long time friend of mine now deceased once said in the words of a song, "Payback is a man, who'll do whatever he can"! It's these kinds of Ethnocidal movies why Blackmen are killing one another. Where are the films of Jewish and European (Caucasion) males shooting, killing and dysfunctioning their communities?
And the Black community has the nerve to wonder why their youths are shooting one another, and the mothers and fathers are crying, almost daily, at funerals; hanging shoes from power lines; setting up memorials on the streets; wearing tee-shirts of remembrance.
These movies are played out. Let's see how the Semites and whites do 'gangster?' Or, are they too civilized and educated to kill one another.

I enjoy Keanu as well....I'm glad to see Common expanding and developing in the film genre and I'm a lover of grit, cops and dark cinema. I live somewhat vicariously through it all because realistically I'd be dead years ago otherwise.
However I am brought back to the truth every so often and I'm forced to review some things from a different perspective. The previous entries by Frank Talk and CJohnson made me do that again. One of my best friends who'll retire from law enforcement in a few months always made me reevaluate things too, but it's true this type of movie benefits only Hollywood.
The reality is ...the stuff that these movies are made of continues to perpetuate itself. The lifestyle promoted is detrimental, the true consequences are hardly ever realized, except by widows, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and those who had higher hopes. I won't go to see the movie, I'll wait and probably watch it on a smaller screen with distinct enhancement of advertiements dropped in at the most inopportune times.
