It's been speculated BUT not confirmed that Beyonce has been approached by the producers of the next James Bond film, 'Quantum of Solace', to create the theme song for the film.
If she agrees, Beyonce will be working with longtime James Bond composer John Barry. She will then join that ranks of Shirley Bassey, Gladys Knight and Tina Turner as the only African American women to the have the honor of creating the theme song for such a long lasting franchise.
This is on the heels on rumors that Grammy winner Amy Winehouse was dropped from the assignement when music producer Mark Ronson told the world that they had both abandoned the project. 'She's not ready to record music,' he said. As Ronson put it, it would take 'some miracle of science' to finish it..
Shirley Bassey did not one, but three theme songs - 'Goldfinger' (1964), 'Diamonds Are Forever' (1971) and 'Moonraker' (1979).
Gladys Knight sang 'License To Kill' in 1989.
Tina Turner did 'Goldeneye' in 1995.
Earlier this year, Beyonce honored Tina Turner at the Grammy Awards 2008.
'Quantum of Solace' is the 22nd Bond Film and stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, and Jeffrey Wright.
Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M interrogate Mr. White who reveals the organization which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Columbia Pictures will release the film on November 7, 2008.

It should be someone will a little more soul to their voice. Why can't Tina do it again? I love Goldeneye.
But I would rather Beyonce do the song than Amy Winehouse. I don't get the fascination there. She seems like an old crazy drunk. What would she be if she were not a singer?...I wonder....

Beyonce is perfect. she has plenty of "soul;" certainly more than Amy, a "crazy old drunk" white girl from England and I don't care who her black American "influences" are. she will never be anything other than an imitator. Beyonce may have a fake, blond, outer shell, on the inside, she is the real thing. she has an interesting voice and she can make a song her own. she isn't imitating anyone that I've ever heard, but I can hear all the people she says she admires too. AND I'd rather hear Beyonce singing the theme song than see her writhing under Daniel Craig in a Bond "love" scene, wouldn't you? let's be real. that thought of her doing it with Mike Myers in Gold Member was disgusting enough.

Beyonce is a great choice because 007 needs all the help it can get. I haven't seen a James bond movie since the 1st one Pierce Bronsnon did. Sean Connery was the best 007 agent so next to getting keanu reeves to playing 007 they would need Beyonce to be attached to the movie. Amy Whinehouse can carry a candle to Beyonce.HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Amy Winehouse was dropped because she would rather shoot and snort, walk around town in her underwear or smack people who she doesn't like than to make a better name for herself. She's in a downward spiral and can't seem to turn around.
