I read the book, thought it was great and I though it would make a great movie. As far as the people who are in it, they are our sisters and if we don't support them who will!!!

The book was just wonderful. I read it several years ago. I picked it up on a recommendation of a friend and read it in one day (just couldn't put it down). I really hope the movie's interpretation is on point. For those who haven't read it, I suggest you run and get it. While you're in the book store, please pick up "The Wake of the Wind" by J. California Cooper. Now THAT's THE book to read!!!

I agree with the comment that we should commend the stars for their diversity. Look at how fickle the music is today. Big now, forgotten tomorrow. This is a career for these artist. Just like we have our careers, we have to keep growing in order to stay relevant and so do they. I too read the book and have heard very good feedback so far about the cast. I am confident in Latifah, Dakota and Hudson. Keys seems as thought she will do her best and take it seriously and that's all I can ask for. She may even surprise us.
We just need to accept the fact that times are changing for actors. Maybe the actors need to start singing.

I am going to see this movie because Jennifer Hudson is in it and Queen Latifah. Jennifer Hudson was fantabulous in "Dreamgirls." Queen Latifah is terrific too. This looks like a very good movie with a good story. I am sick and tired of all the comic books hero stories out now (although I do like them but I'll see them on DVD, it's time for normal people drama.

I read and have re-read this book and it is one of my hands-down favorites. It is a beautiful picture of people coming to peace with themselves -- if the movie sticks to the book, it will be a masterpiece. The tone of the book is rather like "To Kill A Mockingbird;" the girl has an innocent heart and it picks up the same theme of racism, but here the child experiences the love and kindness of these wonderfully eccentric black women and makes her own conclusions accordingly. It shows the harshness of the world but then gives hope. I hope the movie does well and this diverse group of women break it open.
