After all the hype and magazine covers and endless talk amongst teens, the vampire flick 'Twilight' is finally in theaters.
Is it worth seeing?
Is it any good?
Does it matter what's written or said?
The answer is no to all, but it certainly leaves room for improvement.
Faithful fans of the book will no doubt will propel this film to be a blockbuster.
As for its lead star, Robert Pattinson, he's the closest thing to a rock star in this film as if Dracula gave him the lyrics to lure women to his charm without singing a note.
It's the conventional boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-gets-girl story but with a bloodthirsty spin.
Isabella 'Bella' Swan (Kristen Stewart) is the new kid in town and everyone knows it. So much that she's the potential subject for the school paper. When she nixes that, she gets acquainted with some of the students who fill her in as to who's who in the school. When having lunch at the cafeteria, she's told about the elite Cullen family, and meets Edward Cullen (Pattinson), the good looking one who keeps to himself and speaks to no one but his family.
As shy as Bella is, she can't help herself in trying to communicate with Edward, until he reluctantly talks back. She's further intrigued when circumstances forces Edward to reveal himself as to who he is; and rather than run and be spooked, she's hooked and unafraid. Little does she know the dangers that come with this family and when evil doers (Cam Gigandet, Rachelle Lefevre, and Edi Gathegi) show up to do more harm than good, she has to decide whether she stays with Edward or move on.
With HBO's True Blood and the foreign film 'Let The Right One In', getting involved with a vampire is suddenly a cool thing. In a year of 'change', bloodsucking is in; but Melissa Rosenberg's script doesn't give any depth to the characters.
The tone of the film is very campy. It has the feel of a pilot episode for a TV show, like an updated 'Dark Shadows'. If you haven't read any of Stephanie Meyer's books, then seeing the film will not inspire to you to go out and buy the entire collection.
For all the good work Catherine Hardwicke did with her two previous films, 'Thirteen' and the biblical film 'The Nativity Story', helming this film is a step backwards. She window dressed it with rock music, wonderful cinematography and design, but little substance.
The redeeming factor in the film comes towards the end when once all of the principals have been identified and the love story becomes acceptable, a rivalry develops between families, much like the 'Underworld' films. If financially successful at the box office, Hardwicke can redeem herself by injecting some substance into the sequel and the story can unfold to what fans and newcomers can appreciate.

I watch twilight but really fail to understand most of people enjoyed this movie!I guess you're all a bunch of 14 year old little girls... and you just thought the lead actor was good looking.

This movie was surprisingly very good. It was convincingly realistic and romantic. I was skeptical at first, but gave it chance. I'm so glad I did because it was worth seeing! The story keeps you interested because it draws you to want to know what happens next.

Who ever says this movie isnt good must be crazy! I am 17 years old and i hate reading books. Everyone around me kept reading this book "twilight" and going on about how incredile it was. hen the movie came out everyone became crazy with excitmentI thought they were stupid since it is just a movie. I watched this movie and it was THE best movie i have ever seen in my life, not because the main lead man was hot! This movie convinced me to start reading the book. WHICH NEVER HAPPENS! incredible movie

I actually saw previews of the film during other movies i went to see..heard about the story when the hype was going on I thought it looked ok, kinda a bit lame...I didn't know the story or anything about the book at all, I didn't even know there was a book until the week before its release. I read a couple chapter before i went to go see it and I 'fell in LOVE' with the story so much even before having read the whole thing! I am infatuated with it now, I can't stop thinking about it, and i don't get THAT into any movie, period!-It does something to you..
BTW,Twilight is a GEM!..AND ROBERT pattinson is a PERFECT Edward Cullen cast(if perfect is even the right word for it), after being reluctantly dragged to go see it,his small but important part in Harry potter actually made me happy somebody could finally act in that damn movie! the main charcater was cast for his look instead of acting ability.
Only thing about all this 'Twilight' stuff is, I just hate all the little 14 year olds who ADORE him, just because he now 'IS' the face of Edward...the book was good, so was the MOVIE, but...lighten up and stop bombarding the actors with screaming schoolgirl fits of well...girly-squeels everytime you get to see them in public, it's a little (alot!) embarrassing.
CASE CLOSED!
-In reality, more of you who are doubting if it's even be 'good' shoulda actually go and see it-

I cant believe how most people assume this movie only pleases 14 yr olds because the main actor was hot. my 35 year old sister loved it! It convinced her to read the book! I dont like this blog, well how it states that this movie is not worth watching, and isnt any good. Its not tpical, its beautiful, inspiring, romantic (of course), and surprisingly thrilling. i have watched the movie twice already. Prior to watching the movie, i read the book.. and the book was amazing! The best novel i ave ever read. congrats to steph meyer! I did not expect the movie to be any good, as the book was just to amazing to be converted to film. however, as a truly dedicated twilight fan, and i stand up for most out there, watch this movie. it is DEFINATELY worth seeing. it is DEFINATELY good. But thats just my opinion, right? OKay, and so what aout the opinion of the blogger in this blog written? Everyone has a different opinion. So go out there, and watch the movie, rather than just basing your actions on whether to watch the movie on this bloggers thoughts. See for yourself. Dont assume. Just do.

I was skeptical about the Twilight series but as soon as I picked up the first book "Twilight" I was hooked. I agree with others that neither the book, nor the movie is not limited to teenage girls (my husband enjoyed the movie very much). Women of all ages can appreciate Bella's insecurities and admire Edward's devotion to her. There are few of us who can say we never went through a phase where we felt like the ugly duckling and every woman wants the love of her life to view her as the center of his world. I would've liked more from the movie but that will always be the case when there's a book involved. Give it a chance, you just might be pleasantly surprised like I was.

I loved the movie and the books! I think the Twilight saga is awesome and I can't wait for New Moon. I don't fit the Twilight fan mold, but I loved it just the same.
