Gabrielle Union, whose latest film 'Cadillac Records' will be released this Friday, will be heading back to the TV world as she is developing a procedural drama for NBC along with 'X-Files 'writer/producer Frank Spotnitz, who worked with the actress briefly in ABC's short-lived 'Night Stalker' during the 2005-2006 TV season.
According to Variety, Spontitz will write the as-yet-untitled show and Union will star as a detective who must race to save someone's life before it's too late.
Besides her work on 'Night Stalker', Union was seen last season on 'Ugly Betty' for three episodes. She was supposed to star with Lucy Lawless in the American version of the British TV series Football Wives, but the pilot was never picked up by ABC. She also played a medical doctor in the CBS drama series 'City of Angels' which was cancelled in 2000 after two seasons. The series had numerous talent in it such as Blair Underwood, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Warren, Hill Harper, Maya Rudolph, and Kyle Secor.
In 'Cadillac', Union plays Geneva Morganfield, the wife of Muddy Waters, played by Jeffrey Wright. She also appeared in 'Meet Dave' with Eddie Murphy this past summer.

I understand, from a business perspective, why she would do TV again, but I hated Night Stalkers, and having her work with Spotnitz is not something I'm checking for. Gabrielle Union is a movie star.
