Last seen on the big screen as a gay fireman in 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,' Rhames will be back some time in the next year or two in the screen adaptation of Athol Fugard's 1982 play 'Master Harold ... and the Boys.'

Originated by Danny Glover in the Broadway production, 'Master' is being directed by Emmy-winning director Lonny Price, who makes his feature debut with the film, states the Hollywood Reporter.

Price played opposite Glover in the Broadway play under Fugard's direction and also directed the 2003 revival.

Rhames takes on the lead role of Sam, a dignified, noble waiter who is a father figure to young Hally (Freddie Highmore).

South African actor Patrick Mofokeng rounds out the cast as Willie, a younger, more lighthearted waiter who is preparing for a ballroom dancing competition.

Nicky Rebelo penned the screen adaptation of 'Master Harold,' which will extend the original play to take in more action and expand the setting.
