After playing the festival circuit, Mariah Carey's independent film, 'Tennessee,' opens up this week with limited release.
Directed by Aaron Woodley, the films stars Adam Rothenberg, Ethan Peck and Lance Reddick of HBO's 'The Wire.'
A moving and gripping drama of sacrifice and self-discovery, 'Tennessee' is the story of three people who strive to realize their dreams. Brothers Carter (Rothenberg) and Ellis (Peck) set out on a road trip to their childhood home in a desperate search for their estranged father, who may hold the key to their future. Along the way, they are joined by Krystal (Carey), who is trying to escape a troubled life. These unlikely traveling companions are guided in their mutual journey by the conviction that the only way to a new life is by overcoming the past.
In the film, Carey performs a tune that she cowrote with country legend Willie Nelson. She also sings an a cappella version of Nelson's 'Help Me Make it Through the Night.'
The film is being released by Vivendi Entertainment.

Oh God, It's bad enough we have to deal with Beyonce and her horrible and unwatchable movies; Now, here comes Mariah. Did she not learn her lesson from "Glitter"? Mariah, you and Beyonce should stick to what you know best, and that is MUSIC! Leave acting to the professionals, and here's a message to Hollywwod.....NO MORE MARIAH....NO MORE BEYONCE...NO MORE BRITNEY SPEARS...we've been tortured enough!!!
