There's no question that the only film that will capture the nation's attention this week is 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' the sequel to 2007's blockbuster hit, 'Transformers.'
Directed by Michael Bay ('Bad Boys'), the film stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White and John Turturro.
Two years have passed since Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) and the Autobots saved the human race from the invading Decepticons. With the destruction of the Allspark, the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron is uninhabitable, and the Autobots make the best of their lives on earth, working in league with a top secret military team called NEST.
Sam does his best to navigate college life, until suddenly he's besieged by visions flashing across his brain like thunderbolts. The Decepticons soon learn what Sam doesn't know: that he alone holds the key to the outcome of the struggle between evil and the ultimate power of good. With the help of the Autobots and the government, Sam and his girlfriend, Mikaela (Fox), must uncover the secret history of the Transformers' presence on earth and the sacrifices that have to be made to save them from an ancient threat sworn on returning here for revenge -- an ancient Decepticon named The Fallen.
Out on DVD and Blu-ray is the romantic comedy 'Confessions of a Shopaholic,' starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy. Based on the novel by Sophia Kinsella, the film is directed by P.J. Hogan and stars Krysten Ritter, Joan Cusack, John Goodman, John Lithgow and Kristin Scott Thomas.
In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca Bloomwood (Fisher) is a fun-loving girl who is really good at shopping -- a little too good, perhaps. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine but can't quite get her foot in the door until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine published by the same company. As her dreams are finally coming true, she goes to ever more hilarious and extreme efforts to keep her past from ruining her future.
In the documentary world, 'Jazz on a Summer's Day' is sure to impress. Set at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1958, this film features Thelonious Monk, Sal Salvador, Anita O'Day, Dinah Washington, Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson.
