While Variety has confirmed that Janet Jackson is the first cast member to sign on for the sequel 'Why Did I Get Married Too,' Black Voices has learned that her other co-stars (Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Malik Yoba, Tyler Perry and Richard T. Jones) will be returning to the film as well. The only one not involved in the production is Denise Boutte, who played Scott's friend in the film. The movie is set for release on April 2, 2010, the start of next year's Easter weekend. The first flick, 'Why Did I Get Married?,' which was based on Perry's stage play, grossed $55 million domestically.

Earlier this year, Perry expressed to BV his desire to do a sequel.

The 13th annual American Black Film Festival got rolling this week (June 24-27) in Miami, after being held in Los Angeles for the past five years. Among the films shown are Robert Townsend's documentary 'Why We Laugh' and 'Preacher's Kid,' starring Essence Atkins and Letoya Luckett. Tired of being a preacher's daughter and longing to experience more of life, twentysomething Angie King strikes out on her own for the first time by joining a traveling gospel show. In this modern-day rendition of the 'Prodigal Son,' Angie soon discovers that life on the road is tough, but she fears going home with nothing to show for herself or, worse, to a father who no longer loves her.

Warner Bros. is set to release the film Oct. 30.

Lionsgate recently release the motion picture poster for Tyler Perry's latest film, 'I Can Do Bad All By Myself.'

Last seen on the big screen in 'Madea's Family Reunion,' Boris Kodjoe will co-star with superstar Bruce Willis in the sci-fi film 'Surrogates.' In the movie, humans live in isolation and only interact through robotic bodies that serve as surrogates. When several humans end up dead after their surrogates are destroyed, a cop (Willis) is charged with investigating the crimes. After a near fatal encounter, he is forced to bring his human form out of isolation to unravel the conspiracy behind the murders.
