Father and son Will and Jaden Smith will be working together on another film, with Will also playing a role behind the scenes.
According to the Associated Press, Will, along with China Film Group and Columbia Pictures, will be producing the remake of the 1984 hit 'The Karate Kid,' which kicked off filming in China over the weekend, a movie company publicist said Monday.
Jackie Chan will play the wise kung fu master, and the young disciple in 'Kung Fu Kid' will be played by Jaden.
In the original film, Pat Morita played the iconic building handyman Mr. Miyagi, who trains one of his young tenants, portrayed by Ralph Macchio, into an accomplished fighter.
The film, which also stars Taraji P. Henson, is being directed by Harald Zwart ('The Pink Panther 2') for a June 11, 2010 release. Shooting will last three months, and the film will be set in modern-day Beijing.
Will and Jaden played father and son in the hit film 'The Pursuit of Happyness.'

I love Will Smith and I think Jaden Smith is a talented young actor. I also loved the original Karate Kid. I think its an American Classic. Some movies should just not be re-made and I think the Karate Kid is one of them. The power of Wax on Wax Off can never be redone so it should be left as it is. I also had a crush on Ralph Macchio.
