After hearing the cries for another sequel, a popular franchise is coming back to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter states that Columbia Pictures is in the process of putting together a script that would reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for a third 'Bad Boys' film.

Peter Craig has been hired to write a screenplay, with the hopes of bringing the megastars, along with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay, on board.

Smith and Lawrence caught the attention of moviegoers as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in the first film, which grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide back in 1995.

The sequel, released in 2003 when Bay and Smith's stars had risen, grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide.

No word on whether Gabrielle Union, who played Smith's love in the sequel, and Theresa Randle, who played Lawrence's wife in both films, will be involved.

If the film were to get greenlit, it would be an expensive, as Lawrence and Smith are huge stars, commanding at least $20 million each. Bay just finished directing 'Transformers 2,' which is the biggest film of the summer.
