With Eddie Murphy's box office status on the decline and Marlon Wayan's on the rise, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Wayans is being tapped to replace Murphy in 'Richard Pryor: Is it Something I Said?' for Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures.
Directed by Bill Condon ('Dreamgirls'), the movie explores Pryor's controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs. The movie is currently budgeted at $20 million.
Chris Rock, Pryor's widow Jennifer Lee Pryor and Mark Gordon will produce the film.
Wayans recently appeared in 'G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,' which grossed $297 million worldwide. In 1999, he turned heads when he played a drug addict opposite Jared Leto in 'Requiem for a Dream.'
Murphy's last film, 'Imagine That,' grossed a dismal $16 million worldwide. Gone are the days when he was the top grossing actor in Hollywood.

It is a shame that Epps didn't get this role. He is hilarious and I think that he would have done a great job. You need to check out his new stand up DVD Under Rated...Never Faded & X-Rated. It is hilarious. I highly recommend it. Check out some clips and see what I'm talking about>>>

it was suppose to have been mike epps but due to how richard pryor's wife feel about mike epps and the crazy ass comments she made towards him calling him a fake ass b*tch i think thats why he took a step back to let someone else do the part.

If you want someone who looks like Rich, pick me. My bandmates in Just Funk back in the day used to say I look just like Rich. Well, just the drummer Venson, anyway. Even Eddie Murphy's big brother Ray made fun of me in front of the audience at a talent show in Costa Mesa after I finished performing. He started his performance with, "A comedian on the guitar". I'm kinda over it now since even though I don't look like Jimi, I can make a few changes if I really want to, like Michael. Overall, I'm pretty cool with how I look if I could just gain a little weight & change my name for performance purposes. A little professional help here & there would do me some good also. email me at tejurstar@sbcglobal.net or usertr2544@aol.com or 661-317-2535 or 2829 marye margo circle Palmdale. CA 93550 if curious.

I like Marlon, but I think Steve Harvey would make a great Richard. I hope Marlon surprises us.

Too bad Dave Chappelle has dropped out of sight. I think he has not only the experience at stand up, but the acting chops to do an excellent job. I hope Marlon takes it seriously, gets some acting lessons, studies Pryor films, and accepts the director's vision. I can't wait to see it.

It should be Steve Harvey. I have always thought he resembled Richard Pryor. I not sure he would play the part since his life has been changed and the hard core cursing is a bit much. He would be excellent!

Marlon is the PERFECT choice!! He is a wonderful actor and will do an awesome job! I hope they are not thinking about replacing him. It would be terrible. They made the right choice when they picked Marlon for the role.
