Not that long ago, numerous media outlets were writing about 'Precious' star Mo'Nique and her lack of promotion for the award-winning film.
Some reports have indicated that the former star of 'The Parkers' was making high demands -- and with no appearances at the major film festivals (Cannes, Toronto, New York), people were inclined to believe what they read.
Now that the film is out and opening up in more theaters, the Oscar buzz has started again, and the comedienne -- who hosts her own late night talk show on BET -- is on the campaign trail.
The 'Phat Girlz' star's reps denied Black Voices an opportunity to interview her, but in speaking with Moviefone's Kevin Polowy, Mo'Nique is speaking about the film and addressing the politics surrounding her previous silence.
"Baby, people gonna talk," the Baltimore native said. "It comes with the territory."
"But didn't they talk about Jesus? Then they killed him," she continued. "So, what makes me think I'm so special that they're not gonna talk about me?"

Stop the hattin!
Instead of tearing down and criticizing Monique why not celebrate her? I for one am glad to see a woman like Monique who is true to herself and proud of where she came from. We as Black people have so much against us why not just come together and be supportive of one another? The key is with ourselves and not the man!

I don't think that Mo'Nique deserves an oscar. Did anyone see Phat Girlz? There was a seen where she spazzed out. It was the same way she spazzed out in precious. No variety. I just think that the part took her back to her bmore days. She looks like she was the type that if you crossed her wrong, she could tear you up with her words. Now I am not saying that she didn't do well, but I don't feel as though she did well enough. I just think the past took her back to some of her past attitudes (ya'll need to read some of her books).
Jennifer Huddson received an Oscar why... because you thought the entire movie was about Effie, not Deana. As with most supporting actresses that win Oscars, they most times out-shine the lead. I don't think that she did that.
Now the young woman who played Precious, SHE DESERVES THE OSCAR!
