
The Screen Actors Guild, with 120,000 members, announced their 5 best for the year, and once again, 'Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire' was among the nominees.
The Lee Daniels-directed film, which stars Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepherd, and Lenny Kravitz, was nominated for best ensemble cast, along with the cast of 'An Education,' 'The Hurt Locker,' 'Inglourious Basterds,' and 'Nine.'
While 'The Hurt Locker' seems to be picking up lots of critics awards as of late, 'Precious' won the Audience Award at both Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals this year.
According to Variety, the SAG award for best ensemble cast has matched the Oscar winner for Best Picture in seven of the last 14 years, including this year's double winner 'Slumdog Millionaire.'
Jeff Bridges picked up a nod for Best Actor for 'Crazy Heart,' George Clooney for 'Up in the Air,' Colin Firth for 'Single Man,' Morgan Freeman for 'Invictus' and Jeremy Renner for 'The Hurt Locker.'
Sandra Bullock received a nomination for best actress for her work in 'The Blind Side,' Helen Mirren for 'The Last Station,' Carey Mulligan for 'An Education,' Gabourey Sidibe for 'Precious' and Meryl Streep for 'Julie and Julia.'
Supporting actor nods went to Matt Damon for 'Invictus,' Woody Harrelson for 'The Messenger,' Christopher Plummer for 'The Last Station,' Stanley Tucci for 'The Lovely Bones' and Christopher Waltz for 'Inglourious Basterds.'
Adding to the other nods she's received so far, Mo'Nique was a given a supporting actress nom for 'Precious,' along with Penelope Cruz for 'Nine,' Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick for 'Up in the Air,' Diane Kruger for 'Inglourious Basterds'.
Winners will be announced Jan. 23 in ceremonies at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
