Although she made history last night as the first female to win six Grammy awards in one year, singing sensation Beyonce has yet to make an impression on the big screen. She was recently nominated for a Razzie award for worst actress of 2009 for her role opposite Idris Elba in 'Obsessed.'
Despite opening at the top spot at the box office, with $28 million, and grossing a healthy $68 million, the film received negative reviews from critics, with an average score of 3.6 out of 10 from the reviews submitted on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nominated for worst film of the year are 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' 'Land of the Lost,' 'All About Steve,' 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra' and the Robin Williams-John Travolta comedy 'Old Dogs.'
Meryl Streep may have the most Academy Award nominations ever with 15, but comedian Eddie Murphy has the most Razzie noms and was nominated again for worst actor of the decade. He's been nominated for 12 "achievements" and is the "winner" of three Razzies. His notable Razzie films include 'Adventures of Pluto Nash,' 'I Spy,' 'Imagine That,' 'Meet Dave,' 'Norbit' and 'Showtime.'
Murphy also received a nomination for his performance in 'Imagine That.' He will be competing with Will Ferrell for 'Land of the Lost,' the Jonas brothers for 'Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience,' Steve Martin in 'The Pink Panther 2,' and John Travolta in 'Old Dogs.'
Sandra Bullock earned a worst actress nomination for 'All About Steve.' She's expected to receive an Academy Award nomination Tuesday for her hit 'The Blind Side.' "She could be the first person ever to win a Razzie and an Oscar in the same weekend," said John Wilson, founder of the Golden Raspberry Awards, now in its 30th year of singling out Hollywood's low points.
Bullock and Beyonce will compete against Miley Cyrus for 'Hannah Montana: The Movie,' Megan Fox for both 'Jennifer's Body,' and 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' and Sarah Jessica Parker in 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?'
Comedian Marlon Wayans may have traded in his funny bones for some muscle in the action film, 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra,' but that didn't stop voters from nominating him for worst supporting actor.

Nominees for worst actress of the decade include Mariah Carey, who was noted as the single biggest individual vote getter of the decade, receiving 70-plus percent of all the votes for worst actress of 2001 for her performance in 'Glitter,' and Jennifer Lopez, who's been nominated for nine achievements and is the winner of two Razzies. Her notable Razzie noms were from 'Angel Eyes,' 'Enough,' 'Gigli,' 'Jersey Girl,' 'Maid in Manhattan,' 'Monster-in-Law' and 'The Wedding Planner.'
The rest of the Razzie nomination can be found here.
The awards will be given out on March 6 at Hollywood's Barnsdall Gallery Theatre.

Black women can only get positive recognition for playing low income mothers(Halle Berry) or abusive mothers (Precious). They don't like it when we play a middle class woman with a good man who works and takes good care of his family. This does not fit the stereotype that pople love so much. So the razzie doesn't surprise me. Eddie Murphy would get better recognition if he played a bad cop (Denzel).

You're right linda, They don't like it when a black woman beats up a white woman and wins in the movies. To white people, whites should only be the heroes! In the Industry every thing is about them only.
If its white; It's right, If it's black you better stay back. They think that they are Gods gift to this world because they have the money and power to back it up and different cultures around the world outside the white race idols them.
And everything revolves around them just because they own and run the industry. Well they used too, the jews own and run the Entertainment Industry now which is a good thing because more opportunities is slowly opening up for african americans but we still have a long ways to go.
Halle Berry and Denzel Washington barely got the Academy Awards and they are the Best Top of the Chart African American most favored Actor and Actress in Hollywood today.

Well yes, kinda agreeing with the above. But, than again I like Beyonce, but her acting chops are awful. She is just a poor actress.

She did horribly in "Obsessed". The film itself was generic. But she had no chemistry with Idris Elba. Also she should've worked with a dialect coach. Her southern accent and slow dialect didn't not fit the flm and character. When she said "plain" it sounded like "playin".
To the previous commenter, a great indication of fine acting is how far you can get into someone completely different from you. A crackhead or prostitute is a stretch over fine citizen. BUT if you are playing a decent woman you have to find moments to showcase skills and ethic. Beyonce did not do that with "Obsessed". She seemed like two different women in the movie. There was no character turning point as she got suspicious. We have to believe that the wife she was would snap and do what she did and it wasn't believable. The jump was too noticeable and not authentic.

You do know that there are people living in other parts of the country with a southern accent, don't you? Also Beyonce may have a southern acent but she does not speak slowly.

Yes, I have to agree that she is a horrible actress. There are other southerners who are actors/actresses, but they do not sound as bad as B, sounds like she has a serious speech problem.
She should stick to singing, acting is not her thing. The white girl did a better job than her...she played that crazy role.
I liked the movie, B did not do Idris any justice, he was better off w/a Nia Long, Sinai Lathan.

No Linda. They just sucked. Monique was absolutely believable in the movie Precious. You could feel almost all the characters in the movie. Precious made audiences cry laugh etc. Is the movie industry bias. Of course, but in this case these performances were just awful. Point Blank. They all deserve those awards.
