Is Beyonce that hot in demand? She's either loved or hated by the entertainment world.
After celebrating her record six Grammy wins and then nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst actress of 2009, the latest story is that she's attached to act opposite Oscar winner Russell Crowe in yet another remake of 'A Star is Born.'
The story is coming from the LA Times blog, who states that Warner Bros. is now looking at the 'Gladiator' star as the lead opposite her. If you've seen the previous versions that came out in 1937, 1954 and 1976, you know that the movie is about an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors/is schooled by and then finds romance with a younger female star.
The project has been in development hell with several producers and actors attached at one point or another, including a Will Smith/Jennifer Lopez pairing. Nick Cassavetes, who directed 'The Notebook,' is still in talks to direct this one.
The article also states that if it comes off, a Crowe-Beyonce pairing would serve as one of the most prominent onscreen interracial romances since 1992's 'The Bodyguard,' which teamed Kevin Costner with the female singing sensation of the day, Whitney Houston. While that film received mixed to negative reviews, it was a blockbuster at the box office, grossing over $410 million worldwide. The soundtrack to the film became the best selling soundtrack of all time, selling over 17 million copies.
While Oscar winner Crowe will next be seen in Ridley Scott's remake of 'Robin Hood,' Beyonce isn't confirmed for any film roles at presstime.

It amazes me the blindness of those who "will not see" when you have a super talent such as Beyonce G.Knowels.The countless movies,The awards (well deserved),And when was the last time you had a word entered into the dictionary???

I agree she has talent in singing and danceing-but acting? NO NO NO she can't act. But alot of people are in movies who can't act so that will not stop her. As long as she can make money you will see her-next the cereal box. More power to her she should get all the money she can.

I'm proud of the accomplishments that Bey has had thus far, and I wish her many blessings in the future. SHe is a great performer. Yet, even the most talented sometimes can't be the best at everything. There are many dedicated fans that she has, and in their eyes, Bey can't do NO wrong, even when she does wrong. Those fans are in denial, LOL. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I commend Bey for attempting to persue acting, but she is not at the level of being the lead in any film, no matter how well she has done in the music industry. The film industry is a different arena from music, and her acting skills are not equivalent to her music performing skills. Just because she has a word put in the dictionary, doesn't mean she automatically deserves to be an actress.
Again, I am proud of her success musically, but just because she is BEYONCE doesn't mean she is the next LeBron James if she attemps to play B-ball. My point is, she is the woman of the moment, and directors are NOT using her for acting talents, they are using her for her status, just so they can pull in the box office dollars. A bad actor/actress takes away from a good story line, but maybe thats not an issue as long as the money is made. Besides, There are other great actresses who CAN act and sing that could do this role.

Beyonce is the "It" girl right now. Everyone is going crazy over her and if they put her face on a movie screen, its going to draw consumers. BV and the rest of the media act as if she is the only performer who is any good, and push the other, more talented sistahs to the back. If 50 people perform on a show, Beyonce is the only face that you will see when the articles about the show come out.

I co-sign with Sugar.
The media acts as if Beyonce is the only R&B entertainer out there. She is overrated and over exposed to the max. If it weren't for her light skin, pretty face and over sexed image, she wouldn't have a quarter of the success that she has.
