Ice Cube will star alongside Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster in Oren Moverman's police drama 'Rampart,' a film about a police misconduct scandal within the LAPD in the 1990s.
The drama is based on James Ellroy's screenplay, with Harrelson's set to portray the lead character, an LAPD officer on a redemptive journey as he finds himself embroiled in scandal. Ice Cube and Foster will also play officers.
The scandal grew out of severe misconduct within the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH) anti-gang program, including unprovoked shootings, beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery, perjury and covering up evidence.
Both Harrelson and Foster starred in Moverman's debut film, 'The Messenger,' for which Harrelson was awarded an Oscar nod for supporting actor.
In 1995, Cube starred in a similar cop scandal film, 'The Glass Shield,' with Michael Boatman and Lori Petty.
'Rampart' is slated to begin shooting in Los Angeles in late August.
Cube just premiered his documentary 'Straight Outta L.A.' at the Tribeca Film Festival. His next film, 'The Lottery Ticket,' which also stars Bow Wow, opens Aug. 20.
