In recent days, while promoting his latest film, 'Robin Hood,' Academy Award winner Russell Crowe mentioned that one of his projects, a remake of 'A Star is Born,' is being shelved because Grammy winner and actress Beyonce is dropping out of the film.
"I think [Beyonce] pulled out. But I'm still chatting about it," the blockbuster actor revealed. "It's one of those movies that has been made a lot, but I think it's still quite a big focus. You can see that in terms of the popularity of things like American Idol."
While the Australia native is still interested in the project, it wouldn't be the first time this remake has gone through casting changes. Over the years that the project has been in development hell with several producers and actors attached at one point or another, including a Will Smith/Jennifer Lopez pairing.
The story about a an famed aging, alcoholic musician who mentors/is schooled by and then finds romance with a younger female star was first done in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. Judy Garland and James Mason starred in the 1954 remake, and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson were in the 1976 version.

Beyonce cant act worth a damn. She can sing and is pretty but acting is not her thing. Lawd the girl is country.

Be-yo-nce cannot act, she can barely sing and she sure as hell cannot dance... WTF? If they are that desperate to make "A Star is Born" for the fourth freakin time, then why not put a real actress in the starring role. There are literally hundreds of good actresses out there, most of them are unemployed and all of them better trained and more experienced than that no talent, unoriginal over-hyped video performer and song stealer called Be-yon-ce, NEXT!

Although Beyonce may not be a great actress, but the girl can sing and dance! I get the feeling that you just don't like her that's why you speak so negative about her.

I totally agree with your take on this and am so glad you posted your candid comments. I'm a fan of the 1954 and best version of "A Star is Born", directed by George Cukor and adapted by Moss Hart, with the one and only Judy Garland and James Mason. Whenever Hollywood remakes a great film they usually muck it up. Why don't they put a different spin on this classic story? Hey Hollywood, I've got a great idea to make this old story fresh for today's audiences. Call me!

OMG William Wellman, it's like you were reading my mind!!! Beyonce' can't act, her singing is not all that, and when it's comes to her "dancing" that stuff she does anyone can do that. She is way overrated and not as talented as people make it seem.

patty jewel f*********************ck you both for what youll said about beyonce and jlo for one two youll are just jealous three a star is born shouldnt be remaid at all with barbra and kris from 1976 was the best one i have it on dvd i love love love it! dont remake it! but if you do beyonce or jlo will be good just make sure the leading man can sing! cause ps ruseel crowe cant!

You must be a Beyonce stan if you can't see that beyonce is a bad actress. She honestly sucks as an actress and should never appear in a movie again.
