Golden Globe and SAG Award-nominated star of '24' and 'The Unit' Dennis Haysbert will be joining David Mamet's theater play,' Race,' replacing David Alan Grier.

The San Mateo, Calif., native will begin performances for an exclusive nine-week limited engagement, from June 21 through Aug. 21.

Among his film credits are 'Waiting to Exhale' with Whitney Houston, 'Far From Heaven' with Julianne Moore, and 'Love and Basketball' with Omar Epps and Alfre Woodard. His role as President David Palmer on FOX's hit series '24' garnered him critical acclaim.

'Race' is the riveting new play by America's foremost playwright, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner David Mamet ('Glengarry Glen Ross,' 'Speed-the-Plow,' 'American Buffalo,' 'November'), in which three attorneys -- two black and one white -- are offered a chance to defend a white man charged with a crime against a black woman.

The current cast stars Emmy Award winner James Spader, Tony nominee and television star David Alan Grier, and actors Kerry Washington and Richard Thomas.

Additional casting for the show's summer run will be announced shortly.
