Eddie Murphy Looking to Do 'Nutty Professor 3'

While promoting his latest film, 'Shrek Forever After,' Eddie Murphy spoke to Shaun Robinson of 'Access Hollywood' and mentioned that he's working on a third 'Nutty Professor' film.

"You know what, there might be another 'Nutty Professor. We kind of wrote something that might be kind of funny. If the studios want to do it, we'll do it. If you don't see it, the studio was like, 'This isn't funny.'"

Distributed by Universal Pictures, 'The Nutty Professor,' grossed $273 million worldwide in 1996, and its 2000 sequel, 'The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps,' took in $161 million.

When it comes to sequels, Murphy is bankable at the box office. However, his last two films have been bombs at the box office, with 2008's 'Meet Dave' grossing just $11 million domestically, followed by the $16.1 million that 'Imagine That' made in 2009.

Earlier this year, Murphy was given a Razzie award for worst actor of the decade. He's had been nominated for 12 "achievements" and is the "winner" of three Razzies. His notable Razzie films include 'Adventures of Pluto Nash,' 'I Spy,' 'Imagine That,' 'Meet Dave,' 'Norbit' and 'Showtime.'

Last October, Murphy completed production on 'A Thousand Words,' which also features Kerry Washington and John Witherspoon. It has yet to be given a U.S. release date.
