Black Voices
has learned that comedian and actress Sherri Shepherd, co-host of ABC's 'The View', has been cast in the comedy film 'Big Momma: Like Father Like Son,' the third film of the 'Big Momma' franchise, starring Martin Lawrence.

FBI agent Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) and his 17-year-old nephew, Trent (Brandon T. Jackson), go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them.

Shepherd will play Beverly, the house mother who's ousted by the girls at the school. Big Momma then takes her place and becomes the new house mother while undercover.

Directed by John Whitesell, the cast also includes Jessica Lucas, Faizon Love, Emily Rios, Portia Doubleday, Michelle Ang, Max Casella and Mari Morrow.

Shepherd was last seen opposite Gabourey Sidibe in the Oscar-nominated film 'Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire.' The Chicago native recently shared a 2010 Daytime Emmy Award Nomination along with her 'View' co-hosts.

In 2009, Shepherd starred in Lifetime Television's 'Sherri,' a sitcom about her life. It's the first comedy series ever to be owned by the network.

Her film credits also include 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,' 'Guess Who' and 'Beauty Shop.'

'Big Momma: Like Father Like Son' is currently shooting in Atlanta.
