Black Voices
has exclusively learned that Screen Gems' 'Takers' will be the opening night film for the 14th annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF), which will run in Miami from June 23-26.

In addition, 'Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming' will be the centerpiece film.

"Producers Will Packer and Rob Hardy have a long history with ABFF. The first Rainforest Films project to screen at ABFF was 'Trois,'" states ABFF founder Jeff Friday. "We then went on to screen several more of their films including: 'Pandoras Box,' 'The Gospel' and 'This Christmas.' We have watched these dynamic filmmakers (Will Packer and Rob Hardy) grow and produce box-office hits that have entertained, thrilled and educated our audience. I am extremely proud of their contribution to filmmaking in general and I am honored to have two of their upcoming films in our festival this year."

'Takers' stars Matt Dillon, Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Zoe Saldana, Jay Hernandez, Tip "T.I." Harris, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, and Hayden Christensen.

The film revolves around a notorious group of criminals (played by Elba, Walker, T.I., Brown, Christensen and Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case.

Screen Gems will release the film in theaters on August 20.

"ABFF is a very special festival to Rainforest Films. From the very beginning, Jeff Friday embraced us as filmmakers. Additionally, the ABFF audience provided the optimum platform to showcase our films and help elevate our careers. Now that Rob Hardy and I have grown as filmmakers, we want to give back to ABFF in whatever way we can. I am happy that we are able to use the 14th Annual American Black Film Festival to showcase both "Takers" and "Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming." I look forward to going back to Miami - where I always have an amazing time," states Will Packer.

In 'Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming,' which is directed by Rob Hardy, the cast includes Collins Pennie, Pooch Hall, Terrence J, Lil Duval, Tika Sumpter, Kiely Alexis Williams, Keith David, rapper David Banner and music artist Teyena Taylor.

Chance Harris (played by Pennie) looks to find a balance between his school, work, relationships and opportunity to perform at the nationally televised step competition during homecoming weekend at Truth University.
