With writer-director Michael Patrick King and the whole gang back, 'Sex and the City 2' is as dry as the country they leave the city for.
Not only are the jokes unfunny, but the film is too long at a running time of two hours and 27 minutes.
The plot is also as thin as a pencil, and New York City, which is the centerpiece of the series and unofficial fifth character, is no longer part of the equation.
Despite all this, fans of the long-running HBO series and first blockbuster are sure to buck the critics and flock to the theater.
When last seen, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) had all their problems resolved. Carrie finally married Mr. Big aka John J. Preston (Chris Noth). Miranda forgave her husband, Steve, for cheating on her. Charlotte became pregnant after adopting, and Samantha moved back to New York to be with her girls after experiencing a midlife crisis.

Picking up two years later, all seems to be right on the outside as the girls are set to attend the wedding of Stanford and Anthony. Once there, cracks in their lives start to unravel: Carrie clearly isn't settled on being a married woman and having to give up going out every night. Charlotte's kids are entering the terrible twos, Miranda isn't as composed as usual with the stress of work taking a toll on her family, and Samantha's facing menopause.
After Samantha receives a work-related, all-expense-paid trip to Abu Dhabi, in which her girls are allowed to tag along, the comfort of being single again without their significant others is enough for the girls to easily say yes, and off they go.
Halfway across the world, the girls find themselves lavished with their own private suite on the plane and their own cars once they reach the Middle East.

Miranda is the leader of activities, getting the girls to go camel riding and shopping. Still, danger looms when Carrie runs into old flame Aidan (John Corbett) and Samantha breaks cultural laws when her flirtation runs rampant.
When the first film made a robust $415 million worldwide, producers just knew a sequel was inevitable.
One can argue that taking the girls out of New York City is a big no-no, and placing them in a country where the culture is not in sync with their lifestyles is a misstep.
The best way to describe this film is that it's excessive from the running time, to the clothes, to the constant whining from Charlotte, to Samantha's compulsion for sex, and to Carrie's craving for shoes. For once, Miranda is the bearable one.
Fans of the series will be happy to see their favorite characters back on the screen, and it gives them a reason to go out as a group to see this ultimate chick flick.

A complete waste of money. Sorry Sex fans, this one is a dud and idiotic. Should have stopped and Sex 1. Aidan is still a cutoe though.

Well today, I saw the movie, I thought it was excellent. This film to me shows that yes, we get married, and yes we have children and have to raise them, and trying to keep the spark in relationships, and marriage. When we love we love hard, and sometimes we do need a break. I would just like to say, hope to see a SATC 3. To all woman around the world, praises to you all.

WHAT'S THE MATTER SHARONE? MOST OF YOU WHITE WOMEN THAT GO OVER TO THE DARK SIDE HAVE NO CHOICE, WE DON'T WANT THESE WHITE WOMEN WHO ARE USUALLY EITHER OBESE, PLAIN OR DOWNRIGHT UGLY! SO THERE YOU WHITE WOMEN CAPTIALIZE OFF OF THE BLACK MAN'S SELF HATRED AND PLAY THE RACE CARD AGAINST THE BLACK WOMEN, SINCE WHITE WOMEN HAVE MORE STATUS! POOR SICK PUPS..YOU WHITE WOMEN THAT DO THIS!

Why are you acting like the only white women that black men get are the ones that white men don't want. Mane please! I can get a hot blonde or brunette that any white man would be happy to bring home to moma, and she won't be no fat ass woman neither, and I ain't rich!

PLEASE RALPH, I'VE NEVER SEEN A BLACK MAN WITH A HOT BLONDE OR BRUNETTE, DREAM ON....IT IS FUNNY HOW BLACKS SAY "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, THEN THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET,TO GET A WHITE WOMAN, THEY TRIP OVER HUNDREDS OF SINGLE BLACK WOMEN TO GET EVEN AN AVERAGE WHITE WOMAN!! KKK had a point when they said all Black men want is our women!! BY THE SOUND OF YOUR RESPONSE YOU THINK WHITE WOMEN ARE BETTER THAN YOUR OWN, NO WONDER BLACK WOMEN GIVE THEIR MEN NO RESPECT!BUT LET A WHITE PERSON GET ON HERE AND SAY THAT WHITES ARE BETTER THAN BLACKS, YOU WOULD BE THE FIRST BLACK TO BE OFFENDED, BUT IN REALITY YOU BLACK MEN THINK THAT WAY YOURSELVES,
IF WHITE WOMEN ARE BETTER THAN YOUR BLACK WOMEN, THEN WHITE MEN ARE ALSO BETTER THAN BLACK MEN!
NOW SEE YOUR RESPONSE IS WHY MOST BLACKS GET NO RESPECT, BECAUSE MANY OF US KNOW YOU AGREE THAN WHITE IS SUPERIOR TO BLACK!!YOUR RESPONSE CLEARLY HAS THAN TONE TO IT!

Intersteing...A check list of meaningful things to make a black movie about.
My favorite on the list: "No more fantasies movies that the white man will eventually make things right for them and that they are the man."
Here's one I'd like to add to that list..."A movie that takes up the ongoing challange to expose any and all corruption that has led us to the present state we now find ourselves." That would be worth seeing, especially if it's full of those deep hidden secrets that GOD himself has enlighted too.

I saw the movie and thought it was hilarious. It also touched on some real female issues related to the stress of motherhood and menopause, but told in a humorus fashion. It's definitley a "chicks flick". If you are looking for pure entertainment and laughter for a couple of hours, then definitely go see it.

who cares that four white women have been spreading it around so much in America that they need to go abread and share with other cultures and the one that looks like the wicked witch of the east needs to convince other cultures that this is america's idea of beauty. keep doing what is typical of white women spreading your munure around . thats what white women do.
