Over the weekend, pictures of Jason Momoa as the new 'Conan' emerged on the Conan facebook page.

Directed by Marcus Nispel, the film also stars Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Ron Perlman, Said Taghmaoui, and Rose McGowan.

Based on Robert E. Howard's mythical conqueror Conan the Barbarian, the new version is expected to be more faithful to Howard's original creation than were the Arnold Schwarzenegger films.

Principal photography took place in Bulgaria March-June 2010. The movie is now in post-production.

Lionsgate will release the film in 2011.

The 30-year-old Hawaii native is also the father of two of 'Cosby Show' actress Lisa Bonet's children, daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.
