Spike Lee has made a video on Facebook inviting the public to the second annual 'Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson Birthday Celebration' in The Nethermead Field - Prospect Park, Brooklyn, on Aug. 29.
DJ Spinna (aka Vincent Williams) will once again provide the music from 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
The late, great King of Pop, who died June 25, 2009, would've been 52 years old.
Lee, the Academy Award nominated director of movies such as 'School Daze,' 'Malcolm X,' 'Miracle at St. Anna' and 'Do The Right Thing,' collaborated with Jackson for the 1996 music video for the song 'They Don't Care About Us.'

As we may also attend.
DO NOT look for us if we do.
For you will not know us, if you see us.
Although our records of Michael Jackson sadly recounts his changes and challenges as being products of (and dictated by) the social constructs of his surroundings and life’s encounters. But through it all, his innately melaninated heart runs warm with the kind of unadulterated `Soul-Full` love that is rarely seen.
Within his music, many stories are told. But one of our best was “Remember The Time”
Whether it’s realized or not, it profoundly bring about a HISTORY CLASS on the Scientifically, Biblically, Genetically, Demographically, Indigenously and Climatically CORRECT depictions of the inhabitants of an ancient Egypt that reigned before being invaded.
We’re amazed to realize with all the production talents like `SPIKE LEE` who’s apparently hosting this event, that any of them, combined or otherwise, have yet to put their talents together and do a movie about Ancient Egypt.
They can get their visual queues from Michael Jackson’s “Remember The Time” Video and further show their honors and appreciations for his more accurate depictions of those Egyptian.
And needs to be a more serious movie that actually teaches and shows pride and respect.
We’ve about had enough of these black fool movies.
Fat people falling,
Chicken crumbs of beards,
Drug lords, Gang-Bangers and Crime Kingpins
Thickly–southern speaking dialogues.
And all these other negative black stereotype movies just to get it approved by Whites in Hollywood before going public.

A quote from Mr. Michael Jackson from Jet Magazine, Aug 16, 1979:
“I’m going to raise my hand (to God) on this one,” he lit up like a light. “I always thought that Blacks, as far as artistry, were the most talented race on earth. But when I went to Africa, I was even more convinced. They do incredible things over there….They got the beats and the rhythm. I really see where drums come from. It makes you think that all Blacks have rhythm….I don’t want the Blacks to ever forget that this is where we come from and where our music comes from. And if we forget, it (Black history) would really get lost. I want us to remember.”

I commend Spike Lee for throwing a birthday bash for MJ because his life needs to be celebrated but on the same note, Spike Lee needs to stop being so negative when he talks about other celebrities for example Tyler Perry & LeBron James because it just makes me think that he's only doing this for a publicity stunt just to stay in the public eye!
