Singer/ songwriter Rihanna will make her film debut in Universal's 'Battleship,' the Hasbro adaptation to be directed by Peter Berg.
Joining her in the film are Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard.
The film takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. Kitsch, who also works with Berg in the NBC series 'Friday Night Lights,' stars as a naval officer who leads the fight. Skarsgard will play his brother.
'Battleship' will be released on May 25, 2012.
In 2006 Rihanna appeared as herself in the direct-to-dvd film 'Bring It On: All or Nothing,' and in 2008, the Barbadian native was set to star with Mos Def in 'Mama Black Widow,' but the film was never made.

I remember Riri in one of those terrible Bring it On movies(she played herself). If she couldn't play herself convincingly, what makes anyone think she can act as someone else?
