Lionsgate has released a new photo from Tyler Perry's 'For Colored Girls,' featuring Whoopi Goldberg and Thandie Newton.
Based on Ntozake Shange's play 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf,' the film expands the cast (from the play) as it weaves together the stories of nine different women – Joanna, Tangie, Crystal, Gilda, Kelly, Juanita, Yasmine, Nyla and Alice – as they move into and out of one another's existences; some are well known to one another, others are as yet strangers.
Joanna (played by Janet Jackson), is a sophisticated businesswoman struggling to make her way in the corporate world, Alice (played by Whoopi Goldberg), is a spiritualist, using faith as her guiding principle in life, Tangie (played by Thandie Newton), plays the rebellious daughter of Alice who rejects her way of life, Kelly (played by Kerry Washington), a young woman is reaching for happiness in revolving relationships, Juanita (played by Loretta Devine), an middle-aged woman who sees her chances for lasting love dwindling, Crystal (played by Kimberly Elise), a woman in an abusive marriage, Gilda (played by Phylicia Rashad), stricken with anxiety and fear.
Crises, heartbreaks and crimes will ultimately bring these nine women fully into the same orbit where they will find commonality and understanding. Each will speak her truth as never before. And each will know that she is complete as a human being, glorious and divine in all her colors.
Also included in the cast are Omari Hardwick, Hill Harper, Anika Noni Rose, Tessa Thompson, Macy Gray, Khalil Kain, and Richard Lawson.
The film will be release in theaters on November 5.

This movie comes at a time when Black America is faced with some of the greatest challenges that man will ever endure. Our love and love for each other and the dedication that comes with it is going through trials and tribulations, our Black women are the building that sits on the foundation of the Black man. When the Black man is troubled, she is twice as likely to feel the pain. This movie adopted from the play Colored Girls Who Have Considered suiside, is a master piece of a play, and I hope the movie follows the story line, if it does we are in for a great box office hit. Please Black people go out and see this movie. Our Black women are faced with some serious problems, trying to be a good woman, because we Black men are sending them through hell. This movie is good for the Black man to see too , it will give us Black men a better understanding of our sisters and their struggles. Thank you Tyler Perry.

This movie will go down in history as a Classic to be watched over and over again. Just like Waiting to Exhale- I know that the women are certainly talking about seeing this movie as a "girls day out" event. Thank You-Mr. Tyler Perry for seeing a need to produce first rate movies for all to enjoy as I'm sure that this movie is not just for Colored Girls ONLY! We certainly appreciate You, Mr. Perry.. Get your rest but keep up the good and Godly work you do.

I am sure this will be a masterpiece, it is about time a great artist challenged the untold and true story of our black women. Who have been the pillar of the black community and its strength. Our mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, girlfriends and salt of the earth. Thumbs up!! Tyler Perry
