After making a cameo appearance in 'Why Did I Get Married Too?' Dwayne Johnson will have a bigger role in his next collaboration with Tyler Perry. The two are looking to work together in the comedy film 'Take My Wife.'
Deadline.com reports that Perry will play a recently divorced man who realizes the only way to get out of paying alimony to his ex is to find her a new husband. He sets about transforming a rough-around-the-edges guy (Johnson) into a paramour who can be her ideal mate. After his Cyrano act creates the new love match, the divorced guy falls back in love with his wife and has to compete for her affections.
While the film has yet to be purchased, Lionsgate may have the edge on other studio bidders since Perry will produce the movie through his 34th Street banner, with Matt Moore and Ozzie Areu. All of Perry's films have been released through Lionsgate.
Johnson and producing partner Dany Garcia are executive producers, along with Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton.
Perry's next directorial film, 'For Colored Girls,' opens on Nov. 5, while Johnson's film, 'Faster,' which is directed by George Tillman Jr., opens Nov. 24.

Looking forward to this one. I love the Rock and Tyler Perry is generally funny when he gets away from unsavory stereotypes.

I will be looking forward to seeing this movie. Tyler actually collaborating with the Rock. I use to have a crush on Dwayne Johnson. The story line sounds pretty funny. I think the Rock in rather versatile in his acting so he could pull this part off. I'm glad that Tyler is getting some happier story lines because although he uses comedy in his movies they usually have deep issues like abuse, drugs, etc. The topic are starting to get over used in the movies. I wonder who will play the wife in the movie? I hope maybe Nia Long. She is good in comedies. I just want to see The Rock have a black love interest for once in a movie. It seem like Hollywood tends to forget he is half black and they always cast him with non black females except for his cameo with Janet. Not hating on Dwayne just saying.

Tee,
From my understanding (viewed documentary), Dwayne Johnson's dad was anti-black. I don't believe that Dwayne is interested in a relationship with a Black woman unless she is only half Black; I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I guess he doesn't know or ignores his Samoan heritage because they are of Africa descent. His Samoan mother has stronger (stereotypical) Black features that are even stronger than his dad's features. I know that we don't all have the same look. He was on one of the late night shows a few years back & when they showed the doll/action figure made in his image, his comment was, "I'm not that dark!" That made me think he may be color struck & certainly not a fan of dark brown skin.

This is awesome. The Rock & Tyler P teaming up together. I'm looking forward to this project and I hope they will be getting started on it very soon.
As for Dwayne's love interest, I think it should be Halle Berry. Now I know alot of you all probably don't like Halle for whatever reason, but I think she would be the perfect wife to play this part. After all I think Tyler want to work with Halle anyway and so does Dwayne.
I'm with you Tee, I would love to see Dwayne have a black love interest in the movie if not in real life. But less get on thing straight. I don't think its just Hollywood who don't want to put him with a black female. Lead actors have more pull then you think. They can ask for any female of their choice if they want to. I remember when Dwayne did the movie Walking Tall. He told the producers he wanted a "mixed" family, and they did it for him. I also remember they asked him what color he wanted the lead actress to be. He just said, "just get the best" and we all know what hollywood considers the best if you know what I mean. I'm not haten on Dwayne either. I'm just keeping it real like he should. Yes.

Nia long is ok, but she has put on a few pounds and probably won't get the part, but kerry washington or joy bryant would be perfect.

Wow has the Rock's career sunk that low that he's in a Perry film? I hope he's in shape cause after this it's back to the WWE.
