BlackVoices got an exclusive look at the newest poster of Tyler Perry's 'For Colored Girls.'
Directed and adapted for the screen by Perry, the film is based on Ntozake Shange's poem and play 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf' and stars Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Tessa Thompson, Kerry Washington and Macy Gray.
Also included are photos of the men in the film: Khalil Kain, Hill Harper, Michael Ealy, Richard Lawson and Omari Hardwick.
The film weaves together the stories of nine women – Jo, Tangie, Crystal, Gilda, Kelly, Juanita, Yasmine, Nyla and Alice – as they move in and out of one another's existences.

Hill Harper plays Donald, a detective and husband of Kelly (Kerry Washington).

Khalil Kain is Bill, a seemingly nice guy who woos Yasmine (Anika Noni Rose).

Micheal Ealy is Beau Willie, a tormented Army veteran and former lover of Crystal (Kimberly Elise).

Omari Hardwick is Carl, a stockbroker and husband of Jo (Janet Jackson).

Richard Lawson is Frank, the smooth-talking, faithless lover of Juanita (Loretta Devine).

First! I think not! Where have you been? Read your history! I am so tried of my people forgetting their history. Historical black movies should be watched by all black people! Roots comes to mine along with Cabin in the Sky!

Yes, this generation don't know anything about their history. That is one of the biggest reasons why a lot of these young Black men date White women. If they were more knowledgeable about their history, they wouldn't be soo quick to be with White women. Period! They don't read about their history, regardless if Black history is taught in schools or not. And their parent(s) are not talking to them enough about their history, or encouraging them to read about their history, which is resulting in each generation being more and more ignorant about their roots. And that is soo messed up!

Progress!!! Finally, blacks are able to expose our flaws like eveyone else on screen. That's just my opinion though. i like when Ice Cube said "our bafoolery is our gold". an unfortunate truth. Progress!!!

I can't wait until its released hopefully it does well at the box office if everybody comes out and support it;people sit back and complain about not enough movie drama with good cast; if we can support all the comedies and b.s. at the theaters we can support For Colored Girls.
