Kevin P. Chavous: College Readiness Is More Than Academics
The "exclusive" first trailer to the upcoming romantic comedy, 'Jumping The Broom,' starring Paula Patton, Angela Bassett and Laz Alonzo was released on YouTube.
Directed by Salim Akil from a screenplay written by Arlene Gibbs and Elizabeth Hunter, the film also co-stars Mike Epps, Loretta Devine, Meagan Good, Tasha Smith, DeRay Davis, Julie Bowen, Romeo Miller, Gary Dourdan, Pooch Hall, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Valarie Pettiford.
The TriStar Pictures film focuses on a weekend wedding in Martha's Vineyard where two families from divergent socioeconomic backgrounds clash during their first meeting before the big event.
Patton will star as the lead, with Bassett playing her mother, an heiress and a pillar of the Washington elite. Miller plays Patton's cousin, a senior at Yale. Alonso will play Patton's love interest.
Gibbs and Hunter will produce the film along with T.D. Jakes, Curtis Wallace, Tracey Edmonds and Glendon Palmer of Our Stories Films.
'Jumping The Broom' is slated for theatrical release on May 6, 2011 and distributed by Sony Pictures.

Angela Bassett is back! Yes, I've been missing her...and as I live and breathe she is freaking stunning! Definitely going to see this, just for her. Great cast though!
