Top 10 Best Films of 2010
2010 brought plenty of moviegoers to the box office, but only a handful of films can truly be called favorites. Some will be recognized come Oscar time, but even if the Academy passes them up, the following films are among the best of this year. Here's our Top 10 Best Films of 2010
10. 'True Grit'
The thought of remaking a film that garnered an Academy Award for John Wayne seemed inconceivable at first, but in the hands of Oscar winners Ethan and Joel Coen, 'True Grit' is a splendid delight. Led by the performances of Jeff Bridges and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, this remake is, dare we say, better than the original.
9. 'Fish Tank'
As one of the earliest films to be released in 2010, 'Fish Tank' brings out an amazing and gutty performance from its lead, Katie Jarvis, as a 15-year-old whose world is rocked when her not-so-old mom brings home a new boyfriend (played by Michael Fassbender). Directed by Andrea Arnold, this British film, which won the Jury Prize at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, paints a bleak and realistic portrait of life that is well acted by the ensemble cast.
8. 'The Kids Are All Right'
Since its premiere at Sundance, 'The Kids Are All Right' has lived up to the hype. Directed by Lisa Cholodenko and starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Yaya DaCosta, Josh Hutcherson, and Mia Wasikowska, 'Kids' is about an unconventional family with problems, but unlike last year's Sundance favorite, 'Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire,' this film is rather witty and extraordinarily entertaining.
7. 'Black Swan'
Natalie Portman is simply spectacular in 'Black Swan,' an intense and mesmerizing thriller directed by Darren Aronfsky about a dancer who finds herself battling her demons as she stands at the threshold of greatness. It's suspenseful and terrifying, but Portman easily gives the best performance of her career.
6. 'Toy Story 3'
There are only a few films that get better with each sequel, and 'Toy Story 3' pulled out all the stops. As the adventures of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of Andy's toys come to a close, director Lee Unkrich brought us not only animated, enjoyable entertainment for the entire family, but a story that never runs out of steam.
5. 'The Town'
With 'The Town,' Oscar winner Ben Affleck ('Good Will Hunting') proves that he's no one-trick-pony director. Directing himself, along with Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Chris Cooper, and Blake Lively, Affleck's latest film is a no-holds-barred dramatic piece of entertainment. Filled with heavy suspense and intensity, the acting is aces across the board in this compelling thriller.
4. 'Winter's Bone'
Coming out of the Sundance Film Festival as the Grand Jury Prize winner was 'Winter's Bone,' a film about 17-year-old Ree Dolly (played by breakout star Jennifer Lawrence) who is searching for her missing father before their house gets repossessed. With the locals threatening her every move, Ree musters the strength to get to bottom of whatever secret lies within the community.
3. 'The Fighter'
Mark Wahlberg's portrayal of boxer Mickey Ward packs a powerful punch in David O. Russell's 'The Fighter.' But it's the performances of the rest of the cast, including scene-stealer Christian Bale, that make the film a winner. This fact-based drama has a shot at being among the 10 films nominated for best film.
2. 'Inception'
It left many perplexed, but 'Inception,' which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine, is a mind-blowing experience. Far and wide audiences debated each frame long after leaving the theater, and that makes for a successful movie in our book.

The title of the article is "Top 10 Best Films of 2010" - I fail to see the adjective "Black"
anywhere in the heading. The people who frequent this site would vote for "Leonard Part 6" over "The Godfather" or "Citizen Kane." For once, don't paint yourself into a cultural corner - listen to some Beethoven, Sinatra or the Beatles now and then. Give DeNiro, Streep or Eastwood a looksee...you may actually like them even though you won't feel comfortable admitting it in front of your narrow-minded friends.

Perhaps the narrow-minded friend you speak of is people like you who generalization their perception of a group of people based on WHAT...obviously, it's not the knowledge of what they know of those people; To insinuate that blacks don't view or listen to the likes of “Beethoven, Sinatra or the Beatles. Or give DeNiro, Streep or Eastwood” a look; only shows your lack of understanding of the black race; therefore, eliminate you from voicing an opinion on this issue… Maybe you should expand your cultural horizon to include all aspect of American entertainment work.

I guess I need to stop coming to this site. Whether you like it or not it is not a black world. If you expect other races to appreciate tyler perry's movies then maybe you should look into watching movies outside of your box. Not saying you can't have a preference but if you write off a movie b/c it isn't a black movie something is wrong with you. I really hate intolerance on either side. If you are going to be intolerant then please don't get mad at others that are intolerant of you. Btw Toy Story was awesome, I cried and laughed. What an innocent lovable movie!
