Lionsgate has released the teaser trailer to 'Tyler Perry's 'Madea's Big Happy Family.'
Madea (Tyler Perry), everyone's favorite wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners grandma, jumps into action when her niece, Shirley (Loretta Devine), receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy (Natalie Desselle), Kimberly (Shannon Kane) and Byron (Bow Wow) are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can't manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again. It's up to Madea, with the help of the equally rambunctious Aunt Bam (Cassi Davis), to gather the clan together and make things right the only way she knows how: with a lot of tough love, laughter... and the revelation of a long-buried family secret.
Also starring in the comedy are Lauren London, Isaiah Mustafa, Rodney Perry, Teyana Taylor and others.
Written and directed by Perry, the film opens on April 22.

This doesn't excite me. Not knocking Perry like most tend to do, I just need a little more then this right now. Its ok to let Medea sit for a few and bring her back in a couple of years.

I wish tyler perry would stop using everyone out of the Atlanta area. Why dont he use some people from his own hometown damn.Instead of bow wow, he could have gave that role to lil romeo, who is from his hometown of new orleans. son of a bitch.

I dont agree with you at all. why would he let a character that is making him money sit for a few years. If you dont like tyler that is fine. Medea is his franchise dear.

Is this yet another Tyler Perry minstrel show? Judging from the photo:
Angry black woman?
Check.
Emasculated Black man?
Check.
Mammy present?
Check.
Fried chicken on the table?
Check.
...I'd say it's a safe bet. Groan...

First off...black folks eat and talk at the same time ;) A table full of chicken and nobody talking with their mouth full? Uh-uh, Tyler! Ain't no conversation that important, except prayer! But I'm a Madea and Tyler fan so I'm going to see this flick. Lil Romeo is no longer Lil anymore. They needed someone who could play the boy role not young adult role. Romeo is tall but he still has boyish features but not like bow Wow!
Bow Wow's height is one of the reasons his rap career started to dwindle ;( Maybe being down with the Lil Wayne label can rub off on him ( in a good way ) I don't buy Lil Wayne's music but that short dude is still platnum!

Same ol, same ol recycled Tyler Perry storylines & plays. All of his movies are the same thing remade over and over again. I saw the Big Happy Family play on video for $0.99 on Amazon and I am so glad I did not pay $60.00 to see it live when it was touring because it was nothing fresh and new. He constantly uses the same flat, boring actors: David & Tamela Mann, Cassie Davis.
Tyler Perry needs to step up his game. Yes he has made a brand for himself but if he continues to keep recycling his same ol material over & over again, he will quickly fade out.
I am tired of Madea, I loved her in the past but it is time for something new. Please put Madea to rest, she is so played out in my opinion.

Just another thought, could there be some competition???
Is Tyler Perry competing with Martin Lawrence's Big Momma's House??
or
Is Martin Lawrence Big Momma's House camp going up against TP Madea??
I think Big Momma House comes out this Feb.
I don't understand why there is a Big Momma's House Pt 3 either, smh....

Is there any wonder why there weren't any Oscar nominations for Black actors with the crap we extrude onto the big screen?
As a kid I watched low budget 70's films because it had actors that looked like I do. I didn't care that the editing was shoddy or that some of the lines were flubbed, becuase once again back then they were on a tight budget. The Hollywood Machine dubbed these movies Blaxploitation films...like there was something wrong with them just because they featured black actors (a trait that Hollywood continues to do but in reverse). Filmmakers in India have there own movies (Bollywood) as do Nigerians (Nollywood), yet we're supposed to apologize just because we would like to see more than a token representative of ourselves in a movie we pay good money to see.
I say all of this because Mr. Perry has budget that most of those long ago producers and directors couldn't hope to dream of yet the quality of his films suck. In my opinion, the only reason he is making any money at all in Hollywood is the lack of roles offered to black actors in the 'mainstream' media. The old transvestite crap is beyond tired and his clumsy attempts to bring his plays to the big screen is in a word horrid. The term Blaxploitation can be safely bestowed upon the head of Mr. Perry and mainstream media giants.
Not to leave everything on a bad note... he employs more black actors than anyone in Hollywood.
