Yeah, I like Viola, too. She was great in "Doubt", just excellent. I think she won a Tony on broadway along with Denzel. She had on this amazing green gown that was unforgettable at the award ceremony.
That was her in "Far from Heaven" (with Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid and Dennis Haysbert). She was the maid--- sort of a bit part, but excellent none the less. I hope you enjoy "The Help".

hopefully one day we can stop blaming each other and get on with making life better.instead of trying to ride a dead horse. there will never be a perfect society, but America was made so that all are equal, meaning we should all be free to make our own way.many blacks disadvantages are valid to argue for and their consequence from the establishment of slavery that existed in the world .even Jews. every race have been slaves at one time or another. and it still exist today in every country it just has changed a little to disguise itself. and hate will keep it there.

What is the point of this movie, now? The way I see it, this is white folks wish for a return to the "good old days" when their privilege was all in your face. The dregs of european society who settled in america and became "nobel" with the help of african slaves. I know that white folks yearn for return to this. Some white folks say, "I am not responsible for what happened 400 years ago. I did not own slaves." So what was I seeing in the sixties? What was the civil rights era about? Why did I see KKK men, women and children march down the street in counties across america burning crosses; why have many white men gone to their graves free after killing many black men, women and children. This, I saw growing up in america. I am 59 years old, not 250-300 years old. I don't want to see the black hired help catering to white people. those days are done. screw white people. you white folks better get ready to serve me and pray I am not as cruel to your people as you are to mine.

White people DO NOT want to return to having to employ Negroes as their servants. We now have a much BETTER alternative, we employ harder working Mexicans who work for less without complaining like Negroes. We wouldn't want Negroes as our servants anymore, even if they were willing to do that kind of work anymore, which they aren't. Negroes are lazy and complain constantly if they have to lift a finger to work. They'd rather steal or draw welfare.

I agree. It is quite tiresome to keep seeing our images from their point of view. While Hollywood perpetuates the idea that people won't watch a movie if black people are in it, our stories get left behind, collecting dust on bookshelves.

Another comedy lol...Those were the days black women decided to copy a white look hair doo to be "pretty" and accepted and they can't seem to get away from mimicing white woman's straight hair in the present. Black women look better with curl. White women love to see black women copy a white look on top of her head, it does wonders for white women's selfesteem and the opposite to black women. In those days white women were lazy because black women did all the work. Not a good movie for black children to watch. I'm waiting for a good movie with a black president.

As a black woman I agree never to return to it.....but why do you still seem to be LIVING in it ? So many of us talk from the perspective of chains no one is forcing us to wear but ourselves.
When Obama was running for President my community was a sea of "YES WE CAN" t-shirts.....now all I hear is how ("HE". and "THEY...not "WE") are not doing "enough" for us !?!
Depending on some 'magic' government will work out just as well as it did for Germany, Haiti, Russia,....take your pick.
Newsflash: No Government and No Society has your interest. It's up to each individual to decide their destiny and work for personal success.
Our churches ?? When I lived in Salt Lake City during the floods the Mormons hit their phone tree and had 3,000 plus people out with sandbags and food you wouldn't believe. Right now Chinese six year olds are at their desks excelling at algebra and Universities in India are churning out biomedical and electronic engineers..... and we are consumed with the 'controversy' about Jennifer Hudsons weight loss and Beyonce's ability to stop us from stuffing our children with Mc Poison.

Wooooooooo! Preach sistah!
There are black people doing lots of interesting things though. We just have to keep abreast of their achievements and use our big ol' mouths to shout louder than those talking about Niki Minaj and so on. Visit my blog. We celebrate achievements in the black community.
